They are both very good. Most people like the arrows of the V1. I have the Passport 8500 (the 9500 was not out at the time I bought mine or I would of bought it)

You can't go wrong with either. More V1 owners on here.

i heard the 9500i actually remembers previous false alarms due to cameras, commercials, etc. so that if you ever drive by the same location again it will block it out. the 8500 was very much the same as the v1. logically speaking i would assume that the new 9500i is def improved over its previous model. considering v1 did not do a software upgrade, i think performance wise 9500i FTW

I've had great luck with the Passport, I like it because it has a plug and play laser jammer and looks a lot more modern that the V1. The Passport does remember false alarms, if you program them in when you encounter them for the first time. (easy 1 button push) However, the arrows on the V1 are a great feature, and they seem to detect at a longer range. A great site for comparos is www.guysoflidar.com

Good Luck!

well, cosmetically speaking, i'd prefer the v1. it just looks different from all other radar detectors. the passport looks just like any other "cheap" imitation

I have actually read that people like the 8500 over the 9500 because it has a short range or something like that, and that it can potential block out real threats. However I went with the V1 and could not be happier, the arrows are great, and it saved my ass yesterday even when there were no other cars on the road and the cop was hidden.
