That moment when....
You race your mate in his E90 M3 and fail to mention that you picked up a JB4 recently...
First time he was in the wrong gear and I was right on him and the look on his face was priceless as I moved to go past. Even when he was properly on it from the slip road he couldn't really shake me! We stopped for fuel and I could tell it was really getting to him as he's only had it a month and it's quicker than his VXR8 which was just slightly faster than the 35. I came clean and I could see his relief but it was very impressive. Thank the Lord for JB4!! |

JB4 is indeed a brilliant kit!
If you guys compete on a track, then it will be a different game. But who does it? 90% of the time you will drive on normal UK roads and 335i is already bloody fast.

its the go not the show sometimes that puts a smile on your face I guess, I've taken M3 owners out in mine ad theyu are amazed re the pickup and its so damn easy to get 90% of the performance in my eyes for a fraction of the price and IMO the performance is more accessible too

I'd love to see how a 335i JB4 would do against my remapped 335d. I expect you would lead, but I'd like to find out by how much.
My car was quicker than Achu's 335i JB4 at Santa Pod, but he had the added weight of his impressive sound system, and also the folding hard top, so there were more factors at play than just the engine. But Coupe I JB4 vs. Coupe D remapped, I've yet to see a test. If anyone has done it, I'd be interested to know about the outcome

I love it guys!
Ess it would be interesting, I've not seen it either and was thinking how they would compare after I saw Sam's dyno figures. I think we need an E90 performance day!! |

Most of the 335ds struggle to get low 13s at 104-106mph. There is plenty of remapped/JB4 335i well into the 12s and over 110 terminals. Achu's car performed really badly, but the E93 is much heavier to begin with before he added all the rest of the weight. |

Standard the 335d is 0-60mph in 6.1 secs and 0-100mph in 13.7secs.
The 335i is 0-60mph in 5.4secs for manual and 0-100mph in 12.4secs. The more you tune the 335i, the bigger the gap gets. |

Maybe we should do a Run What Ya Brung at Santa Pod in the New Year? I would be up for that, I'm sure it would be lots of fun

This is true, but I suspect only after a remap will each one of them show their true colours. Quote:
I think we all need to go down and have a go, I don't mind which is faster, but I think would be a great day. Perhaps I'll start a thread in the New Year to see if we have some takers

After I fitted the JB4 I did a few test runs, took an average of 3 runs....
Off the top of my head the 50 - 100 was 5.7 secs (will double check). It's easy to do, get a mate on the stopwatch and let's see what you guys can get?!! |

My only issue with the strip is there are quite a few variables. Like reaction time and also getting the power down. Plus manual vs auto is something else to consider!
Good fun trying though!!! My ideal would be a runway and do a few different runs from a rolling start. Going to look into this.... |

Also according to Parkers, 0-60 on the E92 335d is 5.7 seconds: http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/review...pe-2006/36532/ Oh and also, this: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=306157 I wouldn't put too much faith in the BMW published figures. It was in their interest to advertise the i as faster than the d, and they are well known for publishing conservative figures. Having said all of this, I am absolutely not claiming that the d is faster than the i, remapped or not!

Agreed about the manual vs. auto variable. I still think it would be a really fun day!
