First ride in 335d
Had a trip in ajs 335d's car this afternoon.
Never been in any other e92 besides mine. I wanted to get the 335 in the beginning, but decided against fuel use and possible BIG bills on repairs/reliability. Anyway, the 335d is FANTASTIC! His car is tuned and sounds great, but I just couldn't believe the difference in the performance after driving mine. It really is VERY quick, regardless of what gear it was in. It just pulls and pulls ..... Incredible car. Really makes me think about my choice, but like I said to him, I do a lot of miles and was worried about mpg. Then he showed me the trip average on his car. 37mpg !!! That's driving locally !! Ah well, maybe in the near future |

Thanks mate, good to have a craic with you.
Yeah a diesel than quicker than a stage 1 335i petrol - just. Doesnt sound bad for a diesel! In all honesty i should have got a 325d really considering my other mental car. |

I'm just jesting with the petrol vs diesel comment i know it gets people excited it is quicker in a straight line than my mates 335i stage 1 but not by loads, I'm toast if he ever goes past stage 1.
335d is almost done to death now but i was doing 60-80 a road for a good 45mins i was getting low 40's, i can get just anout get 50mpg on a motorway but at a painful 60 odd mph . 37mpg is crap roads and country roads 30-60. Still not much will beat it performance and economy and handles pretty well too, as Jon said it sounds pretty good for a diesel with turbo whistling noise and a throaty exhaust noise purely because the DPF has been removed. First BMW, not first diesel but absolutely love it! Last edited by Ajs_435d; 12-25-2014 at 02:44 PM.. |

I took my friend out in my e92 335d and he'd never been in a beemer before. Seemed to enjoy it, there was a little bit of accidental sideways and a whole load of torque now he's wondering if he made a mistake buying the new Audi S4 haha

35-40 mpg is possible on my N54 335i, if you stay at 60-65mph....but than you might as well have bought a 1.0 Corsa. As some have mentioned the noise, especially above 3kpm with your foot planted is addictive. Often I'll keep mine in a low gear just to hear the noise. Mine is currently showing 21mpg long term average, but given the car does about 6000 miles a year I couldn't careless what the mpg readings are |

I cruised down the M40 to Heathrow on Tuesday, about 80 miles and I reset the mpg counter before leaving. I have to admit the car (335d) was already warm from a trip before I left, but with the cruise at 70mph all the way the computer showed 54mpg which is by far the best I ever got. No idea what caused it to go so high? The car never ceases to amaze me.

That really is incredible for that engine
OK, it falls off when driving with some spirit, but I guess that there's virtually nothing on the road that is as frugal and more fun at the same time as these cars. My 320d will do over 55mpg, but you still have to drive pretty carefully. |
