Underseat upgrade

Hello guys,

One of my underseat sub has blown, I'm thinking to replace it to SWS8 subs. Can I use it for just replacement and slightly better than the stock base 6' sub?

Thanks you.

No. It will take more power to make the SWS play at the same volume as the stock woofers. You don't have enough power.

I see, do you know any replacement subs that don't require to have extra amp to power them? PnP will be great.
Thank!

If you don't want to upgrade the audio system then I'd recommend to replace the one OEM woofer. Should be able to find a pair in classifieds, just post a WTB ad.

Check out helix match 8" subs. They sound better with more power but are def better than stock even running off the stock amp. Can be had for around $200.

Thanks you! I found a pair for $219 from Crutchfield. Should I get their speakers for front door too?

I have the components in my rear deck. Def an improvement from factory and are an easy install. fyi they will not blow you away. They are solid speakers. I don't know if I would use them for my front stage but that's just me. If your looking for a simple improvement with the stock amp go for it.

What is your rear deck model? S4X or the S42C comes with crossover. I will get the subs and the S42C.

to op, if you use the helix match 8" subs, the install will not be plug and play if you have the smaller 6.5" subs. it is doable, but you have to do a little modification to your sub enclosures. members here have done it, look for "base system" upgrade posts.

for what it's worth, the match components for the fronts aren't worth the upgrade. took a set out of a 2014 M3 recently and replaced with jehnert flatline kit. sounded way better (with jehnert subs as well)

Agreed. If I was using them for the front stage I wouldn't be satisfied. It's not that they sound bad because the don't. A little weak on the mid bass and tweets could have a little more sparkle. For rear fill I think they are perfect.
