Hi everyone,
Have had my car for about 6 months and it's time for the tyres to be changed. They are 18' run flats and I'm looking at changing to 19' kumho ku31 (e90 325i). Looking at going with the fitment in this thread for front and rear and looks like it will cost around $1100. Is this decent? Includes fitting but no alignment. http://www.tyresales.com.au/buy/tyre...265-30R19/1478

$1100 is pretty high for Kumho's.
I fitted 19" Nankangs to my old e46 (235 front, 265 rear) and they were $780 for all 4 tyres fitted. The Nankangs are a budget sport tyre, on par with the Kumho's. I wouldn't use tyresales.com.au as they seemed well overpriced when I looked at them a month or two ago. I would ring your local tyre power, get some prices and see if anyone else (bob-jane, max quick fit etc) can match the price or beat it. Edit: Alignment shouldn't cost more than $80 for front and rear. |

Hey star24, I had to do do similar research about a year back when I decided to change my tyres.
I highly recommend either Michelin PSS or Goodyear F1 Asymettric 2's. |

KU31's are a terrible tyre, I found them to be very noisy! After swapping them to continental sport contact 3's it was so much better!
IMO dont skimp out on tyres, try and get something decent ![]() |

The asymmetric 2s are a pretty good price from Tempe tyres... Did you like them? A bit cheaper than tyre rack once you factor in postage!

I had ku31. I never bought em again.
How about the new kumho ps91's . These are my next affordable choice in tyres. I heard its suppose to be very promising. Made for 911's r8 amg's etc |

I'd say where possible definitely figure out what you can afford and try and get the best tyre in that range from a reputable brand. Some tyres from cheap brands aren't too bad and I mean in the end it really depends what you need out of them. Not everyone can afford a set of tyres for $2k the same way not everyone needs a super sticky tyre to get maximum grip in the dry.
Definitely call around local tyre shops and ask them for advice. That's their job and most should be happy to have a good chat and share opinions.

I would save up and buy the best set you can
Michelin pilot sports are fantastic tires IMO Pretty pricey but got 45K out of my last set Might save $300-400 bucks by buying another brand but over the two years or so a set last, its a small price to pay Unless of course you're like a complete WOT addict and chew through a set every 6 months, in which case buy used RFs off gumtree ![]() |

This is true, but he is not fitting them to a 335i, so it is rather expensive for extreme performance tyres.

Just a reminder,
Michelin Pilot Sport 3 and Michelin Pilot Super Sports is a different tyre with a huge price difference between the two. |

Yeah I think the best thing to do is just do a ring around of all the shops.
Was just wanting to see what options there are for tyres and peoples experiences don't think I would be able to afford super sports ![]()

I have Falken FK453, they are excellent, coming from the original Bridgestone RFTs in 18"s and going to 19"s these tyres are great. Noise is less than standard and they handle really well dry or wet, mines a 325i as well.
Bobjane price matched Tempetyres in Canberra for me, they were $888 all up fitted. |

Yeah I would agree with going with the Falkens if you had a budget in mind, Bob Jane has recently cut contacts with Kumho very recently, so we can't price match Tempe for kumhos anymore. ( If you were wondering how I know this, I work for Bob Jane )

![]() Edit: I also would recommend the Falken 453's, unless you have a 335i. They do not grip well under hard acceleration. Otherwise they're good. Last edited by Scotty89; 12-28-2014 at 05:53 PM.. |

Pretty much set on the goodyear f1s I think. Good reviews and seem to be a good price at Tempe tyres... Will have to try price match to Canberra. Hopefully will look good with my new gtc rims
