NAME AND SHAME: Moores motors BMW specialist, wickford, essex.

So I sent my car into Moore's motors Ltd bmw specialist in Wickford essex for a service and got anything but.

They charged me for oil and filter change. Magnatec oil and bmw oil filter supplied by myself and upon inspection after the service the oil was thick black and the filter hadn't been touched either as the one I pulled out was falling apart.

So they charged me to do the change which wasn't done, charged me for the oil to be disposed of even though it was never even taken out the engine then to top it off kept my oil and filter for themselves.

It doesn't finish there though, they charged me an hours Labour also for an unwanted inspection of the car telling me obvious things like exhaust is hanging a bit low.

One thing they did do was top up my washer fluid, even then they probably just squirted in a bit of fairy liquid and some water from a puddle outside.

So a word of warning to anyone who is looking to use this so called bmw specialist DONT!

Not so good.

The truth is that it is hard to find a trustworthy garage these days.

Hey man, would you mind amending the company name in the title and the post to "Moores Motor Services Ltd in Essex" or something similar please because I clicked into this thread thinking that you're talking about a friend of mine who runs his company called "Moores Motors" in Wokingham.

Sorry to hear of your troubles and I hope you get things sorted.

Oh they came out with all the usual ball shit to be honest but I paid them and they wasn't having any of it so what am I to do and I could use trading standards but it may be hard for me to prove as they already have some ball shit story they are sticking to.

Yer I don't trust any garage hence why I checked. Had a load of issues with another bmw specialist when I had my gearbox sump done. I wish I could afford bmw prices an give it to the main guys.

So what story did they come up with? Surely they can't argue when the fresh oil is black!

Apparently it's picked up and mixed with old oil that was sitting in the engine and they said I must have torn the filter when I removed it. I don't think so I guess I must have changed the colour of it as well. Twats.

That's a good idea. It will be useful as proof - it will then be a lot harder for them to bullsh!t you with their nonsense story.

Good idea lads I will do it. I swear all garages are cow boys and con artists. My worst experience was a few years ago with a so called engine recon place in barking which recently appeared on watch dog.

Not good.

I had a similar problem with a marine gearbox on my boat which cost several thousands and when it arrived it was the wrong ratios and was a compete botch job. Had to threaten to take them to court with solicitors letters before getting it sorted. I'm sure it will be a lot easier here once you have the oil results back.

Keep us posted and best of luck!

I say we all call them one by one and ask them about it. See how well they react to that.

can do but I think the only was of getting anywhere is trading standards. I will contact them on Monday. When I tried using them for my broken engine I bought off that recon engine place in barking they wasn't able to recover any of my money.

Just how do you know the oil has been changed when there's no dipstick?

That's really shit tbh. I'd simply go back with a few friends and explain nicely to them.

Sadly most garages seem to try this kind of stuff if they can get away with it. Our Honda Civic was serviced by a Honda Main dealer for 5 years under a service pack that came with the car, the first time I took it my local garage who do all the work on my 335, they called me up and asked why I haven't bothered to change various filters for the last 5 years!!!

Even something as basic as the air filter they reckon haven't been touched for 3 years+, and as for the oil, the car use to get the through a fair amount, but since my local garage has been servicing it, oil usage has all but disappeared.
