Rear diff oil leak - any DIY threads around?
Hi guys,
My car is a 6 speed manual N54 135i. I have a oil leak coming from my rear diff, where the tailshaft connects the front of the diff (haven't had a chance to take photo's) Previous owner had a shop install a Quaiffe LSD so I'm assuming they may have reused or poorly installed the front seal. I plan on replacing this myself, and I have found which seal I need thanks to c0ris07! Seal to be replaced Item# 9 or OEM Part# 33107609536 Seal measurements 50X78X10/15 So in conclusion: 1. Anyone have a workshop manual to check the torque required on the pinion nut? 2. Is there any DIY threads of diff rebuild or similar repairs? Thanks guys Steve Last edited by totti84; 01-14-2015 at 04:53 PM.. |

There are DIYs in the suspension forum in which the diff was removed to facillitate install of an LSD with other suspension components. The torque for the driveshaft nut can be found there. You need a 50mm wrench I beleive, and I think AR Design makes one.
