Hi guys - just wondering what the differences are between the lci and pre lci m sport bumpers? Are the interchangeable? Would an 08 plate e92 be pre lci or lci?

I don't think they are interchangeable without changing other parts such as lights, grilles, bonnet? They look different, compare two side by side and you will see.

Have a look at the photos which Achu took when we were in the car park side-by-side in the thread below, you should be able to compare Az's LCI car to Marius's car (the two red cars) or my car (Marius and mine both pre-LCI) and see the difference.

To go lci on e92/e93 U will need to change headlights, bonnet and bumper.

08 is defo pre lci

Thanks guys so an 08 plate m sport front bumper will fit straight on to my 56 plate se no issues?

That's right. If I remember from when I done mine I think you may need a small undertray extension but other than that get it done.
