2008 335i (E90) Lighting (Headlights) Options

I am currently running with all original OEM lighting and had noticed what I thought was a slight dimming of the low beams (hi beams still seem bright). I just ordered a pair of D1S Sylvania Silverstars 5000K to go into the car late next week (I wanted a more white headlamp color.. not blue but not yellow either).

As long as the car is disassembled I thought about replacing the H7's with something closer to the new Xenon bulb color (I do not normally run DRLs but may do so going forward), something like the Phillips Diamond Vision 5000K.

Then of course there are the Angel Eyes and I went running down the rabbit hole about various LED kits only to discover the Pre LCI E90s do not play as favorably. I have several other projects going on and thus this post to stop the bleeding. The more posts I read the more jumbled my brain started becoming since so many different car versions are being discussed in the threads.

I would welcome suggestions of bulb replacements for the Angel Eye bulbs ( could not get find what bulb type it is for BMW OEM) and H7 bulbs, preferably getting their color a little closer to the 5K Xenons I am installing. I do not want to spend a fortune on the upgrades so pretty much got out of the LED replacements unless there is a good easy to install option that isn't $500. But mostly am considering a straight bulb change but wanting a more white look. Knowing what the Angel Eyes bulb type is would help .

Thanks in advance for what I know is a very discussed topic but I was hoping for some straightforward Pre LCI 2008 E90 sedan experiences. As long as I have the wheels off and panels off may as well change all the bulbs at same time. Thx John

Any halogen bulb you run in the DRL will still be yellow because they are run at half power in DRL mode. When you use the flash-to-pass high beam they will be whiter with the xenon-look bulbs but that's only on for a split second so who cares what the color is.

The angel eye bulb is a proprietary bulb. There are several companies on here that make them for the pre-LCI E90. Probably the most popular are LUX and MTEC.

Thanks. I am paying to have this work done (reasonable charges via 3rd party BMW service) so figured while the lights were accessible it would be a good time to change out bulbs. H7's are simple enough. The info about the proprietary bulb for AE's is good to know. Either buy OEM bulbs and replace or buy an LED kit. I certainly am not opposed to the LEDs (better look) though don't want any after installation surprises such as code errors and the like.

I saw tonight where LUX has a new LED for Pre LCI E90s and I'll follow that thread. A Google search turns up a gazillion makers of LED's but I'll stay with what has had good success with usrs here if I go this route. Appreciate the input!
