I'm really itching to do an HDPE this season. It'd be cool to get a bunch of us at a couple of the same events. Anyone interested?

no additional info yet for the particular BMW CCA event at Autobahn.
it's not even in motoreg yet

as a reference when i went to an HPDE at Waterford Hills Raceway, i paid about 100 for 1-day track insurance, about 200 for non-BMWCCA member registration. that was at a smaller track than Autobahn.

and depending on my work schedule, i may have to do the 05/16 event instead.

Windy city's HPDEs are always bit on the expensive sides for some reason. If I am paying +$3-400 for a weekend, I might as well go to GP track like Road America.

If you want to get some track times on ACC, Northwoods Shelby Club is what I would go with. They have ACC on May 30-31 and Road America on June 19-21.

FYI, Gingerman has open track weekend and test-and-tune afternoon, if you are in for some cheap track times.

Ya anything under 500 isnt toooooo bad but I have heard good things about gingermans open track days, if anyone is down for that in chi. i will def plan a weekend to go

BMWCCA events here were over $500 for Gingerman and ACC last year... which to me is just too much for club level tracks.

Btw, don't sign up for novice groups at Gingerman open track weekends, especially not the first day of the event. Too many cars and drivers that shouldn't be there at all...

that's all good info to know. i should be with the novice group. i don't think Gran Turismo and one actual HPDE are considered enough seat time.

btw, michiana bmw cca (LINK) posted the same event as May 17, 18 (i think it's from last year though) and with a fee of $450.

Lol, that's about same level of experience I have up until last year, but you will be surprised how much that can translate to the real world.

I'm absolutely in for some track days. Plan on doing at 8-10 this coming season and would love to meet up with other locals here from the forums. Not sure I'm in for the Autobahn Country Club driving school, but there are a bunch of track days at Autobahn and Blackhawk Farms thru LAPS Inc, Hooked on Driving, MVP Track Time, GPS Track Time, as well as open track days at each of the tracks. All groups are very accommodating to first timers all the way to seasoned advanced drivers)...

For those not familiar with either BFR or ABCC, below are a couple of onboard videos from this past season (just rewatching them makes me all sorts of excited to get back out there!). Installed the ER Comp oil coolers this past fall so it should be a blast to rip around w/o limp mode issues in the 335!

Hope to join up and have fun with a bunch of ya guys on the track this year! And don't be intimidated if you haven't been out before, most groups have seasoned instructors available to teach you proper technique/lines, etc. Just make sure you have fresh brakes/brake fluid and decent tires and it'll be an experience you'll never forget. Now can it finally warm up!?!

Also, the details for the Windy City bmwcca autobahn weekend and north wood Shelby clubs are available now on motorsportreg. My call is to go with the Shelby club, cheaper and runs the full track at autobahn. The Windy City event only covers the south track, which is a little boring after a while.

April 4th at Gingerman Raceway

Cost
200. 100 dollar deposit due February 24th. Payment can be made with cash or Paypal. You must factor in extra paypal fees if you choose that method. Actual price will be determined when rest of payment is due. Full payment due March 31st.


Format
Your car will be teched by a PAPA member. Track goes hot at 8:30. Drivers meeting at 8:00. Event schedule will be released later. 20 minute sessions around 2 hours of track time. There will be 3 classes. Two novice and one intermediate class. People deemed in the intermediate class has the option to run in a novice class instead.

Rules
Passing-There is no passing in the turns. You can only pass another moving car on the track with a point bye. Passing car must go offline to pass.
Front windows must be open on track.

Safety
5 track approved/sourced corner workers
EMTs on site
Race control

Instructors
Beverages
Garage bay and tools to work on your car

Will there be instructors?
Yes there will be instructors for those who require them.


What if I crash my car on the track/ damage the track?
You will be responsible for any damaged occurred to your car and the track. You will be billed for track damages. If your are worried about this cost or stand to loose a large amount of money if your car was damaged, buy track insurance.
