Price Check 2009 335i M-Sport

There's a dealer in SoCal selling a manual 2009 335i sedan, Le Mans Blue on Chestnut Brown, 72k miles, for $22,100. It is CPO, but that runs out in 5mos. Car is in real nice shape overall.

Specs:

M-Sport Package
Premium Package
Navigation
Logic7
Comfort Access
Park Distance Control

I have been looking for an ideal car for a while and am starting to get tired of looking. It's the right color combo but it's not a coupe, and the miles and price are a bit high. It's had all the maintenance done and recorded at the same dealership, but apparently no HPFP/Turbo issues so far. What would you guys say is a fair price? I think the reason for the high-ish price is the CPO, would I be able to get a lower price by negotiating around the idea that the CPO expires so soon?

seems high for me, I got an 07 loaded with 72k for 14,600 private and turbos had been replaced at 52k

I'd definitely keep looking unless that's the only example of the packages/color you want

Do you think I'd be able to use the soon-expiring CPO warranty as a valid bargaining point to get the price down?

Check with galves.com. Most every dealer uses this site to quote you a trade in price. You'll have a pretty good idea of what the dealer has in the car and can start from there. Good luck.

FYI if you do a vin check with this car it has red interior not brown. But the price is pretty good, a little high.

Interesting, it seems like it has the chestnut brown leather interior from the factory. It looks red-ish, but nothing like the coral red. How do you do vin checks to determine interior color?

Hate to bump this...but did you end up buying this? I was looking at the exact car but before I could fly down there someone bought it. Would love to see it go to an enthusiast.

I don't know where you're finding that car for 17k, definitely sounds like a 20K car or so to me.

Just got mine, 08 335i sedan with 3 month/3k mile warranty, all options above except navi, distance control, and premium sound for ~18k OTD. I think socal is more expensive than norcal.

Don't the 08s have "premium" sound as a base option?

How many miles if you don't mind me asking?

Really? A well optioned '09 6MT N54 RWD E90 for 17k anywhere with under 100k miles at that. Please show us that "anywhere."

Hard enough to find a 6MT E9x car - that alone brings the value up (even though the auto was a cost option, lol).

I think is fair for all that option. Try to knock off 500-1000... if not.. ask for an extended warranty for half price. That would be an awesome deal

You're absolutely incorrect about the 6mt comment. Nobody but the 5% of BMW owners that are enthusiasts want a damn manual. It's not premium.....i' not doing your car search for you but autogurus.com, autotrader, Carmax, etc.....and you will find one. I'm on my 3rd 6mt 335 (one pre-lci e92, one LCI e90) and my LCI 2011 6mt msport was picked up in Ohio actually last year with 9500 miles. If you look hard enough you will find them. Early n54 335's are also unreliable as hell, trust me not too many folks want them used.

I recently acquired mine and spent two months straight looking every day before I found mine, keeping my search under 1000 miles. I'm not a stupid buyer so I avoided Carmax, but Autotraders, Cars.com, Search Tempest (for Cragigslist stuff), eBay, Cargurus, etc were all used. This forum ended up being how I found mine and drove to Michigan to get it.

6MT most certainly changes the value. There are a lot less of them and the reasonably priced ones got sold quickly where equally priced autos didn't. Autos are a dime a dozen so it is easier to comparison shop local cars and use other seller's inventory as leverage.

Hell, half of her cars listed as manuals on these search sites aren't actually manuals, requiring a lot of sorting.

So you would rather buy a modded and beat up car from a forum member than from a decent dealer?

Car was nearly stock when I got it. Previous owner had mostly cosmetic stuff he pulled off the car. Car is anything but beat up and has been great the 2k miles I've had it.

Decent dealer, lol. Some of the most jacked up cars I've seen for sale were from "decent" dealers.
