As far as I know, only 609 (8.8") are sold in the US. I'm in Europe and could choose when I bought my car, never considered the smaller screen. Virtually all 3-series iDrives here in Norway have the bigger screen.

Since the E90, BMWNA is bringing only the Professional version of the HU/radio Tuner to the USA. Thus only the bigger screen/full features for the Navigation system is offered in the USA. This is a slight change from the E46, as only the Business radio/tuner was offered in the USA, but the 16:9 screen was the Navigation option for us, called Business Nav. In Europe the 16:9 screen Nav option in the E46 was only offered as the Professional Nav, with a Professional Tuner. AFAIK, an Euro Business Nav was a Nav with a monochrome 2" x 2" screen. The E46 Euro OEM 16:9 Nav had more features/better Tuner than the USA OEM 16:9 Nav. |

The dealer actually talked my manager into getting the business version, since it was 'just as good', and it could also now display maps.
He now regrets not taking the upgrade to the professional version like I did. |
