Price. Thoughts. Opinions. Comments. (335i)
just wondering what people's thoughts on this motor are?
Is it worth the price he's asking. Wastegate issues really something to be majorly concerned about? Info: previously owned an n54 e82. Spent 3 weeks driving a 80bhp Corsa and want to get back in something powerful. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...d=141550156670 |

Removing the mid cats gains nothing. And has as much effect on the emissions as removing the downpipes.. Which mine has never failed. I wouldn't be worried about the miles or rattle. The rattle can be fixed by the JB4 and these engines have been known to do 200k. Looks like a tidy car and a fair price for the spec and age.
As has been said though, Nav is always a massive plus point. WM |

nav necessarily isn't a big issue as it can always be added at a later date. I have roughly 8 or 9k. I appreciate this probably puts me right down the scale of spec/mileage though.... hence why an SE seems like a better purchase.
i thought the power claims were especially high (considering there's no mention of an intercooler) My 135i had covered 68k and turbo's were perfect. Only thing that i was waiting to happen, was the water pump to give up. |

As stated above these cars can take big mileages my 335i is on 192k now, original turbos/clutch etc. Also bear in mind when you come to sell the rattle will have got worse, and you may have to sort that to sell it even if it didn't bother you. |

I wasn't aware that turbos were so cheap........ I was led to believe that it's usually cheaper to get a set of RB's than buy a new pair of standard's |

I cannot see the central speaker. So it has hi-fi to start with and who knows it may have logic 7. However it has no m body kit and jb4 like other car. JB4 can be bought but changing SE to M sport is a bit of hassle. Bu then second car is lower mileage and auto (having alpina transmission) is biggest benefit. Add JB4 and alpina transmission and you have a weapon!

The JB4 kit already has some software 'fix' for reducing the wastegate rattle already, so if it still persists than that not a good sign. Only sure way to fix the rattle is new turbos....which is about 6-7 hrs labour + cost of new/refurb turbos. If your really keen on the car I would make sure you go and hear the rattle in person before deciding....Mine developed the smallest amount of rattle the other day from cold, only lasted 5-10 seconds, but it sounded horrible, not a noise I would want my 335 to be making everytime I let the revs fall!! |

Think I saw this up for £10,000 the other day. It's auto though. |

Lets just don't forget one thing. All n54 will suffer the wastegate rattle, Even new turbos after being used for some time will have that issue. With right at the low end budget, finding one with new turbos will be quite hard or nearly impossible.

Such an awesome car for the money, This one looks like a decent price if you're not fussed on nav, although I've not kept that close an eye on prices recently...
I think it looks great with the m sport kit and wheels. The wheels are especially nice in my opinion. On the faults would get an idea of budget to fix both yourself. Wastegate is a well known issue so plan for worse case scenario... |
