All,

I have an 08 335XI with Cobb Stage 1 Sport Tune, Cobb Drop in filter, new plugs, new coil pack and just had walnut blast. No codes; all is good. I've been reading the charge pipes fail with more boot and that our stock diverter valves are slow and weak.

I'd like to replace both in two steps, starting with diverter valves. Can anyone give me a good comparison between the Forge DVs and TurboSmart Kompaq plub back? Also, do these help as much in terms of throttle response and cutting lag at the low end as I'm reading online. Sounds pretty good for $300.

As for charge pipe, i won't go stage 1 aggressive (15psi) until i put my summer tires back on, so I have some time on that decision, but I'm thinking Cobb, BMS, or ER.

I have the BMS CP with TurboSmart DVs and couldn't be happier. I don't have any experience with the Forge DVs.

As far as the actual difference, I replaced mine because, after installing DPs, they started leaking, so I can't really give an objective comparison of the two functioning pieces. I'm happy though.

Also check out the VRSF CP. It's pretty much the same as BMS, but I think a bit cheaper. I have the VRSF one for my wife's N55.

Never had a problem with the Forge DVs. I have had them on two cars. I also did not notice any difference in throttle response or lag between the Forge Dvs and stock when going back and forth. YMMV

Mike, Have you seen a decrease in turbo lag/increase in throttle response with after market charge pipes? I'v been reading up on this issue and it's clear people claim these occur when both the CP and DVs are done and TurboSmart claims it's the DVs, but now I am confused as to which order i should upgrade. I want to get catted down pipes and FMIC when funds are available.

The first thing to get the charge pipe. Ideally get the charge pipe with DVs, but if you can only get one get the charge pipe. This is usually the source of most leaks (the connection between the stock charge pipe and the stock DVs)

Of course if the DVs are leaking themselves a charge pipe won't really help, unless the leak is at the connection point. The upgraded ER charge pipe uses a short silicone coupler to connect the DVs to the charge pipe as opposed to the flimsy stock twist locking mechanism that for the life of me I don't understand how it holds any boost even when brand new and working 100%

There won't be any differences in performance between the two, it's primary sound and price.

Most op for the Forge DV because they are cheaper and easily serviceable, however if you are looking for more sound the Dual Port from Turbosmart would be louder.

The plumback from Turbo Smart and Forge DV would be about equal since they both plug back into the intake.

Mike's got me hooked-up with an ER charge pipe (long style in black) with black Forge DVs. Should work well and look somewhat stealth..

I have an 09 335i sedan and looking to get BOV kit. I have AA FMIC and COBB V3 and not boost leak issues P30FF. Do you know if Forge Motorspost hard pipe with single valve is the right fitment. I have been told i need a long pipe vs short and theirs looks like it`s short compared to ERs
