E90 330i Rear Differential Question

Will I experience any adverse effects by having an 08 328i rear differential installed onto my 06 330i? Both being 6mt. The ratio for 330i is apparently 3.15 and the one for the 328i is 3.23. What differences will I experience in performance?

Problem you'll find is that BMW don't supply internal parts for their diffs, only complete replacement units. You'll need to find a transmission specialist...

they actually can be rebuilt. BMW really sucks these days though, they used to list all the parts for things like the gearboxes and differentials individually (doesn't mean you can't get the parts, just not through BMW). I guess their take is they can't make money paying clueless dealer techs to screw up diff rebuilds they're not qualified to do.

somebody who works on differentials/transmissions could do it. but, they don't really go bad that often. a used one would be an acceptable alternative.

i'm looking into that now but i can't find one from a 330i without a shit on of miles, which is risky. I have 137k miles and its whiny as hell. does not sound like a bmw

Why don't you just put one from 330i auto with 3.64 for a little fun?

That's only about a 3% difference in ratios. I'd find a 3.38 or get the 3.64 from the auto 330i, that's what I did.
