Trade in value?
Went to purchase a new Land Rover evoque today and was offered 7,500 for my car (2010 335i 69k msport nav every package / option). Needless to say I didn't make a deal. I feel that is a rediculously low price. Any one agree?

I would have laughed in his face and then asked how did he come up with such an insulting low ball price. I got over $9k for mine 07 328i with 93k miles back in sept of 2013.

A friend of mine is the GM of the local Audi dealership. They and 99% of all dealerships use galves.com to get a trade in value. When we traded my wife's 530xi wagon in on a Volvo xc70 a couple of years ago, I used the site to get an idea of what to expect the dealer to offer. He hit galve's number almost to the penny. Went to a couple of dealers in NJ and they were all within a few bucks of the same number. My daughter traded her Civic in this year and used the site. The dealer was $50. below Galves number. Costs $5.

Traded in an 07 328i in November of 2013. 68k or 69k miles (forget exact number but was just below 70), accident history resulting in replaced driver side door, driver side fender, side skirt, rear quarter etc with a ~12k total body shop bill, driver sideview mirror cracked and leaking the brown material when I traded it in, both front interior seats torn from my ex's obsession with true religion jeans, and the rear bumper cracked and hanging on one side due to, ironically, a woman who backed into me in a parking lot in a Range Rover Evoque after I already had the downpayment on my current 335i and was just waiting to pick the car up several days after she hit me. Still got 12k flat for the trade. Tell this guy to pound sand. |

Look up what edmunds says your car will sell for and tell the dealership you already have a private party buyer at that price... See what they say? Usually they will come a few hundred bucks under the edmunds price cuz they know u will save on taxes for the trade in to a dealership when buying another car.

I've been offered $16k before and I literally laughed at them and walked out, coming from BMW just offering me $22k a few days prior. My car had 75k miles and 2 accidents on the record.
I think you can part out your engine for $7000...
