CSF Upgraded Radiator for AT cars?
We all know cooling is an issue on our cars, especially if you have auto transmission since the lower portion of the radiator is used as trans cooler...
Just wondering if if anyone has used CSF radiator on our platform? The specs say it is an all aluminum core and end tank construction, much better than the plastic crap on the stock radiator. http://csfrace.com/product/bmw-racing-radiators/ FYI, they sell MT radiator as well! And the price is quite competitive comparing to the Mishimoto's radiator.

Anyway sent an email to the manufacturer for more information. These guys have been making performance radiators for quite a while, so it would be great there is finally something available for the e9x platform.

If their radiator does work on 6AT cars, I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Please keep us posted.

Ok, will update once they get back to me. If it looks all good, I will try to work out a group buy deal or something.

You won't see lower temps with the aftermarket radiators, just so you know.
As I predicted when mishimoto was designing theirs, the DME will just cycle the water pump less frequently because it is programmed to keep the water temp within a certain range. If you guys want to run the coolant cooler, you really need to find the water pump logic and figure out how to adjust it. |

But I haven't come across any way to modify the DME software for coolant management, so the guys running stock or on Cobb are out of luck on this. But a more efficient radiator can manage much higher thermal load before car's coolant hits limp mode temp. Given that stock BMW radiators are pretty prone to failure with the plastic end tanks, this could be a viable replacement for those who want a full alum. construction.

I'd be onboard for this as well.
Just curious, has anyone with an AT bypassed the stock radiator and used a fender mounted trans cooler like the PPK setup? |

A complete waste of money because the DME controls water temp not the thermostat…it will only take longer for the car to warm up, which some will argue has some benefits but also comes with drawbacks

not effective at all for reason stated above. best way to improve the coolant thermal management on our car is with higher capacity / faster running water pump, more aggressive pump operating logics, and more efficient radiator.

For what?
If you are at the track, just run max cool mode on the JB4. If you have Cobb tune go eat a brick

or just run both, best of both worlds with no drawbacks other than being out $500

We used to carry the Performance Aluminum Radiator from Mishimoto.
we did not get any demand for it so we took it off our website. Now that i see there is an interest i might add it back

We do not even carry the product anymore i replied because the radiators were up on the website for a long time with no interest whatsoever and now suddenly everyone is sub and looking to buy one. BTW your price is off, we did not have it anywhere near $800 ( but then again i cant go into details or it would be considered an ad). Anyways it was a joke, we are not getting the product back on the website . I know its still Monday and people are in a bad mood but seriously you need to relax and enjoy your day
