"Straight Outta Compton!" NWA - Bio Full Feature Film
However your feelings may be on said group, music, and time frame... Their music was a "lightening rod" in freedom of speech especially where music was concerned and ushered in an entire genre that polarized Hip Hop and the entire music industry forever. I am sharing this film and trailer solely for "entertainment purposes ONLY". Please do NOT degrade this thread with any type of political or racial interjections.
If you listened to the group, know their history and realize the sheer impact and mega-artists this group produced, then you probably will appreciate their story and the film. Do I personally agree with their "lifestyle and or opinions"? Not necessarily. But I can certainly appreciate their story, struggles, and artistry rising up out of deadly, tension filled childhood and neighborhoods to become among the biggest celebrities in today's modern entertainment: Ice Cube and Dr Dre who eventually gave rise to Snoop Dogg, The Game, Mac 10 and West Coast Rap. Besides that, this movie just looks good and entertaining! That being said... *NSFW* WARNING: Trailer contains nudity and profanity:

NWA was just a little before my time I was probably still in junior high that time. But when I got into HS they were doing their solo thing. RIP Eazy-E.

And guess what... I'm perfectly ok with that. Shows his "flexibility". One must "adapt" to remain relevant. Particularly in the entertainment industry. You forgot to mention that Ice Cube continues to rap and churn out his signature "raw, uncensored hip hop" that put him on the map. Even after making several kids films. Dude is still keeping it real. This joint right here goes hard:

I realize that I'm a tad older than most around here. So even if you weren't in your teens in the 90s, this film (if you're interested) will really put them and West Coast hip hop in perspective.

What's even more amazing and to put things in perspective... This film based on their Album of the same name, sold MILLIONS with Zero radio play in the 90's! That shit was unheard of!

I was just telling my daughter about Ice Cube since we bought The Book of Life movie and how he did a voice over for it. Then I played her the song from which he quoted a line from "It was a good day". tt was lost upon her as at the age of nine she didn't know what a gang was.
I'll likely watch it.

Looks like an entertaining watch.
It Was a Good Day remains one of my favorite songs of that era/genre (I know it was a solo song, not NWA). I remember thinking that Cube had an image that I thought would never change. I mean he was as hard as they came. If you have told me then what his career would look like now and that Dre would literally be a billionaire I would have laughed you out of the room. Can't say I knock the guy though. He had a rough life back then and has a seemingly wonderful life now so if he still had that hard edge, it would come off as having psychological problems. I was a bit young for NWA to be on my radar but The Chronic was THE album when I was in like middle school. Then "It Was Written..." came out and I became a Nas fanatic. Good trip down memory lane...
