Might have to say Bye Bye to the 335i soon
As the title says within the next year I might have to trade in my e90 for something a bit bigger. Today my fiancee and I just learned there are two small aliens inside of her trying to escape into the real world.
It's been a short time with my new baby, but with these things that you call "children" I fear I'll need something a bit more reliable & safer than my e90 335i. I've never been in the back of this thing let alone strapped small people in a mini-seat back there. Not throwing in the towel anytime soon, but if anyone would mind saying a few good things about the e90 & children I'd love to read them aloud around the lady so I can stay away from a 2011 A6 or Taurus SHO. |

I recently bought a 335i coupe and make it work with my two little ones... I saw a dude driving his boss 302 mustang with two rear facing car seats about a year ago, that gave me confidence I could make an e92 work. Once they are front facing, it's not bad at all.

I also have 2 kids one is 4 years old and the other is 1 they both have plenty of room in the back seat and the car seats fit perfect im 6'1 and my seat is pretty far back and my son still has room to kick his feet around without hitting my seat I say stick with the e90 its just as safe as any other car has all safety latches and child door locks also plenty of room in the trunk for a stroller and once UR kids start taking its pretty cool to hear my son tell his friends at school my dad drives a bimmer! Good luck tho man 2 kids at once is going to be tough

Just get your wife an x5 and she will leave you alone about getting rid of the 335i.
You can get a used 2011-2 for under 40k CPO pretty easily. The Audi Q7 would be a cheaper option. Pretty easy to get a used Q7 for about 35k. |

Women; a pain in the @$$ to live with, a REAL pain in the @$$ to live without. Drove my dad's & it was crazy (Twin Turbo), but daddy doesn't even like the Caddy. They never hold up more than a few years. (My father's a Chevy car dealer btw) Quote:
But really an SUV for her would be better, but I like the Q5 more than the X5 or Q7. She's riding around in her 2011 528i her parents parents bought for her when she graduated from nursing school. |

I have a 6yo and a 3yo, me and my wife both have e90s. No real problems. Your main problem will be a double stroller that fits in the trunk. We used a City Select and it fit great.

A 3 series is much safer than an SUV if u ask me. Much more likely to avoid an accident, especially in wet weather. Better stopping distance to stop, better steering response to swerve and avoid, lower weight distribution and centre of gravity height for better cornering grip limits and predictability. I'll never own an SUV. Such a silly trend.
PS: I have 1 child and probably another soon. The 335i is my wife's daily and we certainly won't be changing it with another child. Last edited by bradsm87; 02-16-2015 at 06:06 AM.. |

I work with a guy who had an e92 M3 with a baby seat in the back. and now he has an F80 335i.
You can make the 3 series work just fine. |

I've had two car seats in my 335 coupe as well. It's not ideal but there is plenty of room. You have the sedan so it should be a piece of cake. Obviously if this is your only car then an suv is a better choice as you don't have to think of only the kids but the amount of stuff you need to bring for them. Lol. That fills it's own car.

We only have one kid (4 now), but no problem with her in my E92 nor in my wife's A4, which is very similar in size to an E90. Kids are small.
That said, for long trips we take my Avalanche. Hard to beat that kind of space hauling stroller, bags, etc around. But a A6 or 5 series won't get you that kind of space. |

I have a 5y/o & 4y/o. GAVE UP my SUV to get into my E90. I have a booster and a car seat in the back. It's tight, but I don't want an SUV. I gave it to my wife.

Yup. Still room for bags and stuff. BUT.. You have to clip the seats out each time you fold it up. Takes less than a minute, but just something to consider. But even if you had a huge suv, you would have to do the same for that stroller. But you won't have to keep buying bigger strollers since you can just swap out seats.
