I ran 12.611 at Fontana with JBS2H

I'll post up the link to Drag Times once they put it up.
Basically, I was running JBS2HR but my car wasn't running smooth... my times were all over the place from 12.6 to 13.2.

Terry gave me a new R switch and Hot pill to try out but it didn't make a difference. He suspects spark plug issues with the higher boost of the R switch, so I ran JBS2H (R turned off) for the rest of the afternoon, and got consistent 12.6 to 12.8 1/4 mile times.

My mods: JBS2H, factory exhaust with 2ndary cat deleted and resonator deleted w/open cutouts, race gas mix, BFG Drag Radials, 23lb Odyssey battery.

Anyone know where I can buy the BMW spark plug tool for the N54 engine?

Nice going Sam.

How are you liking that Odyssey battery? Any problems with cranking?

If you need someone to install the plugs for you send me over a PM. You can go to my mechanic right over in Aliso he did mine.

If you want the tool its liek 200 bucks or something. Msg Chris B he will give you the parts number for it.

Everytime that I hear someone running fast with the simple product that Terry sells I get happy for both (the customer and for Terry).

Terry keep up the good work

Terry's car would have consistantly have been in the 11's without that 1100Ft altitude, and strong cross winds. I think he said he had to struggle with the steering to keep the car going straight! I wish it would have been on Saturday, better conditions, and I would have loved to have joined all of you there....Well, next event...Bakersfield next month!

Thanks Sharewin! The odyssey battery is nice. No crank problems at all, and I saved about 30 lbs. in battery weight. I've had that setup for.... 3-4 months or so now, no problems

I forgot to mention 1 more mod... dry K&N filter. My best MPH was 109 but I can't recall if it was with my best run 12.611. I'll look at the timeslip again. If DragTimes doesn't post it later tonight I'll upload the scan here.

Very nice time. Do you have any idea what ocatane your race gas mix was?

It seems like more and more people are starting to have spark plug issues.

I think I was probably 98 octane or so. Without the R switch though, I couldn't take full advantage of it.

Yeah... maybe the factory plug gaps are too big for running much more than 12-13psi boost.

Good job Sam. You times are right where one would expect with your mods, running race gas and on DR's.
Wonder why your car wouldn't run well on higher boost??

I know some people are talking about the conditions at Fontana that day, but the reality is, having a DA of 650-1200 feet at Fontana is about as good as you can expect there.
As for the winds, well they were swirling, Terry had troubles on one run, but there was also tailwinds at times but it didn't make any real difference in his times.
Terry's times were great, as you'd expect with 16+ psi peak boost.
His car is a base model sedan with (about 120 lbs less than stock car with premium and sport package, and OEM 18" wheels)
JB2HHR on 97-98 Octane gas 16+ psi peak boost
CAI (dual cone intake)
UR Catless DP's
Kosei 17" wheels
Nitto Drag Radials

There is no doubt he'd of been in the 11's at a sea level track.
But then again, that's only if the sea level track had as good as traction off the line. It's not ONLY the DA that dictates or affects times.
He could of been at a sea level track and ran slower if he couldn't of launched as hard to get the 1.6-1.7 60" times.

I wish we had a good track closer to LA.
Famoso opens next month, it's about 500 feet less in elevation (which is basically nothing) but as of last March doesn't have the traction off the line that Fontana has. However that may have changed now and be better prepped.

I want to see more JB2 and JB2H only (no other performance mods) times on 91 and 93 Octane and on street tires.
I wonder why JB users most always go to the track on 96-98 Octane gas and not as they drive on a daily basis?
Hopefully there will be some JB2 and JB2H only cars at Famoso next month, not all on race gas, race gas map, drag radials, etc etc.

And hopefully we'll see a good mix of PROcede, JB, Xede and even a Dinan car there too.

I look forward to being able to provide that data for you Michael...

I will be tracking my car regularly with JB2H w/ 93 octane. Of course this wont be really soon or anything, but at least it is something to look forward too...

Cool.

But now is the time to go while the temps are nice and cold.
You should hit a track soon.
I'd expect the JB2H, v1.47, Xede, and Dinan only cars (on street tires) on 93 Octane to run pretty similiarly, that is to say 12.8-12.9 @ 109-110 mph at a good track.
I would also like to see more JB2 only cars on 91 Octane too.
