30ff low boost pressure
2010 bmw 335 63000miles
Got 30ff code last night when driving normal merging on freeway then was only able to boost 8 psi which would drop down to 5. Today boost is going up to 12 psi and drops to around 11 And no half engine light has come on today as yet. Recently install jb4 about 4 days ago. Now have 30ff boost leak code. Current mods are 7" vrsf intercooler, jb4, vrsf chargepipe. Changed stock diverter valves a month before jb4 install to new stock diverter valves. Could the new stock diverter valves be leaking already?Noticed hissing when car is running from around the front intake/diverter valve area. Intercooler looks fine. Any help would be appreciated thanks |

V likely the stock DVs....They suck, in candor.
Get some soapy water on the clamps/hose and see if it bubbles when you give it some gas, that'll help narrow down boost leaks. Good news is boost leaks are rarely "hard" or expensive to fix, bad news is they're a PITA to track down sometimes.

Oh ok thanks. It's just strange because I replaced the stock diverter valves a month ago to new stock diverter valves and I would think they wouldn't break so easily but as you said they suck. Today I haven't gotten any codes as yet. I will try they soap and water and see if I get any bubbles.

I did get a 2d2e angle of throttle valve code but I read that I should ignore it as it is a plausibly code from extra lag fix in jb4. Idk if this is associated with the 30ff code.

Codes gone, problems gone!
No, but seriously, if you have a keen ear, boost leaks are very easy to track. Soapy water works well too, but can be hard to get in some places, and then see said places after. Please do report back confirmed problem, and solution!

Thanks. I hear sum air hissing around the front of the car where the diverter valve is and the intercooler charge pipe. I think I'm just gonna go ahead and change the diverter valves to some the turbosmart or forge ones. Maybe the new stock diverter valves got stuck some how last night and are probably going bad. Hopefully this fixed the problem.

My bets on vacuum line.
I had exact same issue, it ended up being the one that ran at the front of the engine just under the engine plastic cover, but as said just trace them all and make sure you give them a riggle where they're terminated. |
