Little spikes on edges of tyre

Good Evening All,

Tyre question:-

Dose anybody know what the little spikes are on both edges of the tyre is? Its on a RFT 19". PS its not the little spikes on the side wall of the tyre!

Sorry cant seem to attach pic saying file to big!! Yes I think its nobbles but should they still be there after so many miles on the tyre and when do they go away?

BM's tend to have pronounced rear camber, so it will take much longer for the outside edges of the tyre to wear, including these little hairs
