Problems with my DEPO V2 angel eyes headlights

Just want to let everyone know what is going on and to beware... I feel like I have wasted $500

Bought mine over a month a ago, but it took me a while to arrange to get a tech to install them. I am having a fair amount of fogging/condensation in my headlights everytime I drive it. I am guessing it is due to the amount of heat the LEDs put out. It has been relatively cold here (in the 20's at night), but nothing too extreme. Very dissappointed and the ebay seller ( redcometm3 ) I bought them from is trying to give me the same runaround as the ( fishcake ) seller. Use hair dryer and put in silica gel packets (desiccant) to absorb the moisture. This is not due to raining or washing the car either, so it has something to do with the moisture already inside or being produced from the heat of the lights/LEDs.

and was hoping to be able to code the angel eyes / halos to only run as DRLs, but the more I am asking in the forums, the more it is looking like my car is not code-able and I will not be able to code out the orange corner/blinker lights. I called several places and they said they could try, but being they are aftermarket headlight assemblies, they could not guarantee they would be able to do anything and I would still be charged for coding, even if they were not sucessful.
I have a 2006 325xi e91 wagon with a production date of 12/05 and just want to warn and let everyone know so they will not make the same mistake I have. Lesson Learned

This discussion had been ongoing for years. Buyer beware, should have researched.

Test for leaks!. Use a hair drier and see if any part of the lens is leaking. If no leaks there, you need to make sure your back covers are sealed. I would even advise using a bead of silicone on the covers. It seals and it's removable if you need to change bulbs.

If there's condensation from humidity, make sure air it out with a blow dryer. You shouldn't get condensation if you do that. Even if the temperature drops, water should not find its way into the headlight.

99% of the problem is that the covers have been modified to allow the wires from the ballast to pass thru. These are not like OEM that have the ballast as part of the headlamp.

Not sure if I understand what you are refering to here... the condensation problem or the coding issue?

BTW, Are there any aftermarket headlights out there that don't give problems and are plug n play with no error codes? I really want to have the led angel eyes / halos. I would consider OEM, but they are so expensive and they are xenon/hid only, which is what makes them $$$. JUst trying to figure out how to get the angel eyes on a budget.

You can get oem halogens. They have angel eyes. Not as bright as xenons though

The condensation problem from the covers being drilled for the wiring.

That will happen if you have hid bulbs though. Are you still using halogen bulbs or did you put in an hid kit?

I was just using philips diamond vision halogens, which I liked very much. Not as bright as Xenons/HID but they had the color I was looking for. So anyways... there was no drilling for wires. When I was packing them up tonight to send back, I took one of the rear covers off and rather than a rubber foam seal like oem, it was a bunch of gooped up silicone... very well could of been the problem. Very disappointed and bummed... because I really liked they way they looked.

You can send your oem headlights to oss or lightwerkz and they can install angel eyes for you.

So far, aftermarket headlights are a hit or miss. Some people love it and have no problems. Some people end up wasting money. Even buying the same headlight from the same company doesn't guarantee good quality. It's sad

I got the halogen led halos from fishcake and they also had condensation inside for about a week. After that they cleared up completely and have not done it again. I am wondering if it is very humid where they put the led's in the depo headlights and it is just trapped moisture. BTW, during the time that they cleared up, it was raining about every day here in central Florida.

Just pop the headlights in the oven for 7 mins 275 degrees...apply some pressure and add some more sealant if needed. I had condensation in my depos but added more butyl and its been good for almost 3 years now

Ended up filing a paypal claim and had to return them... Now in the process of trying to find another SURE-FIRE option to try. Not having much luck tho... Damn-it! I sure wish they had not have did the whole condensation thing, cause I was real pleased with how they looked. However was still in the process of trying to figure out how to have just the angel eyes run as DRLs on a 2006 pre-lci seems to be impossible from I gather so far... Not to many folks wanting to chime in with suggestions/solutions... don't think you can code this???

Not on a 2006 model nope. The 2006 model e9x came with a older FRM module then what was used in the later models. In this FRM module (which controls the lighting) there is no option to run angel eyes as DRLs.

On the 2006 models I believe the DRL is the same light used for high beam (i.e same connection and energy source). On the depos what you could have done is unplug the angel eye wire/pin and tapped it into your high beams. You can do it the ghetto way with electrical tape or spend like 10 dollars and use a H7>--9006 & H7 splitter.

Or you could have coded the car to run your low beams all day. Meaning if your knob was on the auto position. Your angel eyes and low beams would be on all the time.
