Turbo Charger For E90
So I've done some researching and I came across this little thing http://www.bimmerpartswheels.com/tur...stage-1-p-1729
Curious if it was legit and if there was a manifold that you could buy for the car seeing as how it doesn't come with one. |

Not with this platform.. nothing has been proven to be stable over a long term basis
Plus the cost for the companies to r&d doesn't make sense. Someone correct me if I'm wrong |

If you want a turbocharged e9x trade in for a 335.

E90 already has a turbo, it's called a 335(n54/n55). There is no turbo kit for the N52 and anything that is out on the market is untested garbage; mostly the type of shit you will find on Ebay.
Your options are: 1. Get the supercharger kit for the N52 2. Trade up for a 335 |

Not to mention that at 30PSI the magnesium and aluminum mixed engine block will snap, crackle, and pop pretty quickly. The N52 was not designed for high boost. Actually it was not designed to be boosted at all, hence the N54 and N55.
And yes that is the ebay kit. It's been around for years don't think anyone was crazy enough to buy that shit. For starters it looks like it was constructed from spare bicycle parts and the tubing looks like something you might pick up at Home Depot. It hurts my brain to think that someone would even consider buying this POS. The look of it alone is about to make me throw up the delicious curry chick I had at WholeFoods. Ok end rant, don't want to puke all that protein all over my office floor!! Last edited by Delta0311; 02-27-2015 at 01:12 PM.. |

Yea, that's just a generic Chinese turbo kit. Nothing car specific and no tune.
The turbo will put alot more stress on the engine than the supercharger will. More backpressure, more heat, higher cyl pressures and more low end tq which stresses lightweight components like the rods. Dont get me wrong, turbos are great and I have a number of turbo cars, but I think the supercharger is the better way to go on the N52.

you'd never get it running. it's missing the most important element to boosting a car - the TUNE. not to mention small details like the manifold.. lol
also, ESS has already proven that the fuel system can only handle about 6psi of boost. nothing in there for that either. it's literally one of those ebay kits that's just a bunch of random parts, you'd find the same "kit" for about 2 dozen other cars. This is not a "bolt on" turbo or even really E90 specific. It is obnoxious when we're discussing headers or something and a troll always comes in and says "just buy a 335i" but you're talking about adding a turbo to a platform that already has a really good factory solution to that problem... |

YEa people need to understand that 328's are very capable cars for going fast and very good handling. 335 are very good for accelerating fast with good handling.

Give it a try but at around 6-7 boost. U will blow the motor with anymore. You will probably be around high 200s low 300s hp after especially with headers and 3stage im
