As long as the rolling diameter (F to R) is within a certain percentage, you won't have any issues whatsoever. BMW, I believe, was actually the first manufacturer to offer staggered wheel options on an AWD car from the factory. The XDrive system is not as "sensitive" compared to the Audi Haldex or Subaru symmetrical drive systems.
We have set up 100s of Xdrive customers with the same 235/40 | 265/35 setup

Stock (at least non-Xi) is 225/45/18 and 255/40/18, which makes the rears 0.06" taller.
Why not 245/40/18 and 275/35/18 (.14" difference) or better yet, 245/45/18 and 275/40/18 (.02" difference). The 2nd combo would be more ideal as they are slightly taller than stock, so you it would help correct your speedo slightly as well. I run 245/35/19 and 275/30/19. |
