Yeah, but non dinan aftermarket voids the warranty
dinan flash, intercooler, exhaust = 400hp

I'd be careful and take what they say 'with a grain of salt'. Was in my dealership today and asked the Dinan reps about the oil cooler and flash. I was told by the rep that I can get my flash WITHOUT the oil cooler. Off course, no warranty BUT the kicker was that I can then come in later (few months or a year etc) and have the oil cooler installed and have warranty. His explanation and I quote..... "YOU WON"T HAVE WARRANTY BETWEEN THE TIME FRAME OF THE FLASH AND THE OIL COOLER INSTALL BUT AFTER THAT YOU ARE TOTALLY COVERED"
Now keep in mind, i don't have the factory oil cooler so this seemed very funny to me. I can get the flash, kick the crap out of the car, get the oil cooler installed and have warranty Isn't the damage done at this point? (and yes, i know they have to prove the mods caused the damage but the statement made by him got me to worry Have it in writing and signed by someone that actually matters in the company would be my advice. This way, you have something to fall back on. My .02cents. |

No aftermarket mods will "void" an entire warranty. Of course if there is a problem that can somehow be related to an aftermarket mod (some will stretch this are far a possible), BMW and Dinan can argue that the non approved mod caused the problem and refuse to warranty the repair. Downsides with Dinan: BMW and Dinan like to blame eachother. Meanwhile your car sits not getting repaired. Yes, this has happened. With a Dinan mod, the dealer knows the car is modded and that could increase the potential of BMW looking for other mods. Thus increasing the chance of a repair not being covered. |

DINAN has been around 25+ years. They have warrantied thousands of cars and over those 25+ years I am sure there was isolated cases of BMW and DINAN argueing as to what cuased the breakdown. But there are countless times where the owner simply drives into the dealership and gets a loaner and a few days later get a call their car is ready. Come to find out it was dinan related and they were being billed for BMW's cost. The Downside with Dinan you suggested above, are worse case scenarios...! Typically it's handled without a problem. Fearing a dealer experience only needs to be an issue when you known the dealer's reputation! |
