progman update failed - reason for concern?
My dealer just updated my car to 28.0.2. They apparently ran into some sort of failure during and update and had to restart the entire update. Here is what appeared on the invoice:
BEGAN COMPLETE VEHICLE UPDATE. UPDATED CAS. MULTIPUL MODULES FAILED UPDATE. BATT RESET 10 MIN. SPECIAL MEASURE TO RESCUE GW MODULE. GW RECOVERED AND UPDATED SUCCESSFULLY. BEGIN UPDATING MOST BUS MODULES. MOST BUS UPDATE COMPLETE. RESET STEERING ANGLE. I'm hopeful that the BMW techs on this site can chime in. It looks like the GW module needed special attention; what is a GW module? Any reason for concern? On a side note, does anyone know which subsystems are connected to the MOST bus? Thanks in advance.

MOST bus stands for media orientated system transport.MOST bus is used for information and comunication systems such as navigation, audio, and telephone.
Any modules that fail to update properly during a software update need to be reset (battery reset) and a second attempt be made. Modules can fail to respond properly for many reasons. Reasons as simple as battery voltage being inconsistent during the update. No reason to worry |

Based on other posts here (plus the two above), this happens ALL THE TIME. It's one reason dealers are so loathe to update software unless they really have to.

Hmm...... I probably need some lucky charm when I go in for the Progman update to fix my AHL module in 1.5 weeks. Hopefully it'll work out fine.
