I have not heard of any positive gains for removing swirl flaps, do you have any data saying otherwise?

Notting as far as gains but i have heard of issues with them failing and being ingested by the engine? More of a remove somthing that may be a problem in the future? I know i have the later cartridge type ones but still not sure if i trust them..

Swirl flaps are part of the variable geometry intake system.
They sure do get coked up if you still have an EGR in place! OTOH, if you remove them, the high-speed and low-speed ports are always open. As a result, your low-speed torque will be reduced.

Maby not such a bad thing, once tuned and piped? As one would be pushing the torque limits of the tranny at this point. I have not heard of any issues with this generation of flaps, and if I understand correctly if they do become dislodged it's not catastrophic as it would have been with previous generations,( they are now plastic instead of metal, and they are to large to get sucked into internal motor)
Does anyone know approx how much torque is lost with this block? If not, if anyone does this block please post before and after dyno's

I've had my EGR blocked off for about 20k miles now. I noticed a decent difference with power in regular driving. Full throttle was not effected. I haven't really checked the inside of my intake, but I haven't noticed a loss in power during the block off time.
