WORST LUCK! - 335i 6 New Injectors Needed!!
Hi All
Before I start ive got a 2007 335i (80k) which I purchased 3 weeks ago! So you've prob's seen me starting threads left right and center about some issues ive been having with my car misfiring.. had the coils, sparks replaced (all 6) and an injector recoded.. and yet again 2 days later it started misfiring again. So this time I thought id take it to BMW. When I arrived I managed to catch a mechanic just going into the garage and had a quick chat with him. I told him my experience and he said its common fault with the 335i and unfortunately its the injectors (all 6 of them) . He said I should be able to get them changed under recall as they are a known fault.. If not he said he's had people claim 100% good will for parts and labor. So after speaking to him I was a bit more positive about the situation, so I went inside into the main BMW center and handed my key over to the lady to check for recall... She said nope! no recalls and when I asked about good will she said not likely and that Id have to pay for all the work before I can apply for the good will claim. (bitch) What do I do!!!?? 1) Take it in to BMW to have it fixed in hope that I can get the good will (if not ill have paid over the odds for parts and labour and will probs cost me an absolute fortune 2) Take it to an indy garage and get them to do it for me 3) Try and do it myself and maybe take it to a garage to get them coded 4) Try and complain to BMW directly to see if they can offer me anything? Anyone had any experience with this? Thanks for your help Cheers Tom

I'd call BMW directly first and see if you can get something done, calling costs nothing and if you can get them to cover it you're golden. Otherwise I'd take it to an indy shop if you have a good one near you. My local BMW dealers shop rate is $180/hr and the indy is $105/hr. Just make sure you know who you're taking it to, asking in the regional forums for a good shop certainly couldn't hurt.

why can't you just replace and recode the injector that failed. PTF said you need to only replace one at a time a few days ago I think...

INPA / DIS
I installed (6) last weekend.
1. Purchased (6) new injectors from Tischer for $890.00 free ship (1mo ago) 2. Purchased DIS software off e-bay for $84.00 free ship 3. Spent 7 hrs trying the (3) programs for DIS to run -- finally successful 4. Spent 2.5 hrs R&R injectors -- following the DIY here. (easy work) 5. Spent 2 hrs coding injectors for the lack of DIS instruction Car now runs Great. Similar to when I did the walnut blast following the DIY. I would suggest all (6) if you plan to keep the car for several years. All of my old injectors were -08 / -09. New -12. But you can only replace one and some claim you can even mismatch -12 with older 1-10 revisions but BMW says all in a bank must be 1-10 or -11/-12 in a bank. Good Luck . |

You can replace just one and have it coded. I did this as I only had misfire on one cylinder.
While it's cheaper, expect the other injectors to fail at some point. I paid about 350 to have it replaced. |
