Need Help & Advice! Newbie 335i Owner with Logic 7 & Audio in General! :)
*Let me preface by saying, I'm extremely new to audio configurations and terms. I literally know next to nothing about audio setups (as in what would be compatible with what, etc.) and would appreciate any and all help/input. Thank you.*
Hello all, it's been a few weeks since I've had my baby. My 335i, 2010 model, has the Logic 7 sound system. With that said, my previous car had this setup: MTX Audio JackHammer JH600: 1200W Max, Class D Monoblock Jack Hammer Series Amplifier Link: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...mer-JH600.html x2 Kenwood KFC-W2512: 10" KFC Series Single 4 ohm Subwoofer (this setup was purchased years ago, as a part of package sale on Sonic Electronix) Link: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...KFC-W2512.html I'm looking to have the aforementioned system installed in my 335i as I'm looking for more bass, as was what I was previously accustomed to in my previous vehicle. With that said, would anyone be able to point to cost-efficient (as in not necessarily breaking the bank) for possible upgrade routes of the tweeters, front speakers etc., and what products overall would give me the best sound fidelity/upgrade over the current Logic 7 sound system. The reason why I felt it was necessary to create my own thread on this topic is because I'm currently oblivious as to what products, if any (depending on my budget) that I can purchase that would be compatible with my AMP. As far as I'm/was told, my current amp/setup is very good quality (at least for the time it was bought anyway) and unless another amp would be able to provide significant upgrade over it, I would prefer to keep my current setup. So in closing I'm looking for help for the following: ***With my current setup, looking to possibly upgrade other speakers within the car, or would the fine people of this forum recommend keeping the cabin speakers OEM and just stick with the current setup as is. ***If suggesting upgrading the cabin OEM speakers, please feel free to list compatible products of your own personal opinions/tastes. ***If I were to go with my current setup (AMP + 2 subs), how much should/would it cost to get it installed? Local shop wants to charge $350 purely for install--which I personally think is insane, as that was how much I paid for the system in the first place. Looking to spend ideally $200-$250 range for quality installation. I'm located in Los Angeles and willing to drive a little ways away for anyone that may have recommendations/good deals for installation. ***Is my amp ideal to power both the subs and current speakers no problem? Should I be able to hear any upgrade(s) over the OEM Logic 7 amp? In closing, thank you for anyone and everyone that will take their time to guide me and offer their opinion on this topic. (If necessary, my music tastes can vary quite a lot depending on my mood. One moment I can be listening to Drum & Bass, to Hip-Hop/Rap, to Trance. So I very much enjoy great sound quality wherever possible.) |

I specifically thought it would be best to make my own thread because I already have my own specific setup. I'm not fully aware, if I were to upgrade the Logic 7 system, on what would be compatible with my current AMP. Furthermore, I'm also looking for possible price-quote information on installations that are in the Southern California area. I could have understood if I was making a thread based purely on the need of upgrading from complete OEM, but I am not. Last edited by YouAreMyWorld; 03-13-2015 at 10:07 PM.. |

you can use mobridge to go from digital to analog input to your old amp, or you can use LOC just like any other system.

You stated you were new to audio
You stated you were new to audio.
You probably need some stereo 101 to help you zero in on something. We put the stickys up especially the audio build thread so we could make people familiar with the three common systems and to also give some examples at to what's possible. The L7 system is not easy do significant upgrades to and can be quite expensive to upgrade . The speakers that fit and work in a e9x series tend seem exotic to most people there are not a lot of thin 4 inch speakers or thin underseats though the situation has improved somewhat. The stuff that works is listed in following thread. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=641323 You might want to just stick a subwoofer in it and call it day. subwoofer threads http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...2&postcount=66 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...t=Ultimate+Sub http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ight=subwoofer Last edited by ctuna; 03-13-2015 at 09:53 PM.. |
