Straight piped N55
I've been curious to see how this setup sounds so I did it to my car and it's LOUD. No one on the forums seems to have a completely straight piped N55 so if anyone in SoCal (Glendale/Burbank) wants to hear it shoot me a pm.

I had mine straight piped, took it off in less than a week. The sounds not too great imo and way too loud. Catless with stock Dp is best sounding to me except for catless BMW PE. Just my opinion though.

Mine goes catless downpipe, resonated midpipes, muffle delete.
It's loud on cold start and when going WOT but otherwise not bad. I love it. |

The drone is terrible, not gonna lie lol. It's been a few days now and I'm used to it. It sounds like my friend's R35 GTR and he's got an iPE full exhaust on it. Nugget do you live in LA?

If you are tired of the drone but you still want it to be loud you should consider vibrant resonators. Post up a vid of the sound? I just got my DPs recently and I love the sound but wish it was a tad louder sometimes.

I only have the PPK with the BMWPE on my N55 and ya, cold start sounds like a fucking truck, when its at normal idle, it's nice and ya, WOT it sounds awesome. I wonder how much different a catless DP will make it sound...how much power do they add?

I'm trying to capture the true sound, but these damn iPhones suck at it. Any suggestions?

Has anyone tried the Ar design catless downpipe with resonator? I wonder if it would be the perfect combo with secondary cats and bmw PE.

I used to have a muffler delete and catless downpipe but cold starts were way too loud lol. I just have a downpipe now but I posted a video if that's what you were curious about. I live in Glendale btw.

Bringing this back alive with an update. I went back to stock for a few years, but I'm back baby I recently cut my mufflers and did the PE mod. I only cut half of each muffler and replaced the cat/perforated pipes w straight pipes. Next week I will be going catless with my AR 4" dps. I also bought vibrant 1792 resonators, but I'm holding off on the instal to see how it sounds first. I will post clips next week when i'm catless/fbo!

Best sound in my biased opinion is catless dp with catback vanguard exhaust lol. It was the perfect amount of loud. I put my cat converter back on because state ref inspection so I'm keeping it that way from now on.
