Can we get much higher? Oh, oh, oh, oh

Sup fam

Still didnt get to drive my car yet, but if you guys didnt see the video...here is a sneakpeak
https://www.flickr.com/photos/121214...n/photostream/

Plus its supposed to snow today so i dont know how hard I can push the beast whenI get her tonight

I'll do a review and videos later tonight
(Reserved)

But what else can I do for my car performance wise....Im FBO right now

Do I do cams? any other suggestions? Any other ideas? Im starting to realize that my mechanic knows a lot of people in the bmw community... so anything is possible. I dont want to do the SC, I want to keep her NA

Would cams be the only way to go? Are there any other ideas?
Well I guess I would have to see if they work on justpete car first

My setup
Ram Air Intake w/ charcoal delete and silicone intake tube and red scoops (lol)
AA Stage 3
AA Headers
BMW PE exhuast w/ powdercoated black DiMisa tips..secondary cats are in there as well.

how about custom dyno tuning for your mods? there might be a few more ponies in there.

with the primary cats gone, I doubt the secondary cats do much good.

I don't think anywhere on Long Island does that exclusively for our cars

just to be clear, I meant removing the secondary cats probably won't make much of a difference.

if pete's cams turn out, that's definitely something to consider. it would almost certainly require custom dyno tuning to take advantage of that significant of an investment though.

Yeah, I actually put my secondaries back in for the header install.. Idk how I feel about secondary deletes now.

I hope the cams turn out; another 20hp sounds good to me!

You could always put your car on a diet--lighter brakes, wheels, tires, and the such. Oh, the two letters "SC" seem to be floating around in my head and I don't know why!

A custom tune is basically all that's left until more is developed along the cams line. We have to wait and see how pete's cam's regrind turn out in regards to tuning.

I've talk to my buddy at Vinny Ten Racing and he said they can connect to Active in order to get some remote tuning done and that they've done it before. Planning on going this route eventually.

OO Can't wait till it's done. I really want to hear the setup after completion since I will have a similar set up. But for me I will have a AA exhaust instead of the performance one.
Also how much did the install of headers cost.

Brenntuning can do a custom dyno tune, and there is also an exhaust system tuning you could tweak.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm also thinking of keeping mine NA. The gains for some SC kits are worth their price, but $5k I think would be better saved for the M2

Just so you know what I'm talking about, I was just searching for sound clips on a Exhaust I want to build, and stumbled on a E30 M20 build.

I'll save you all the trouble and show you what I found:

The engine seems really sensitive to the exhaust. Perhaps the exhaust side of the head is not working well (MM hardly do anything to the exhaust side for their head, cam etc due to emission reasons) or perhaps that it is overcammed and the ‘right’ exhaust helps counter some of the side effects/problems ….

Run 1 to run 2 was a catalytic converter change out where the new cats were moved closer and side by side as opposed to staggered
Run1

Run 2

Further investigation into this never found out what happened. I even put back a similar set of cats and used photos to position them as close to where they were but it didn’t do squat. Perhaps it was something to do with the dyno setup on Run1 and as such it is not real or there was another issue at play…..

Run 2 to run 3 was a x-pipe relocated closer to the engine
Exhaust from run 2

Exhaust from run 3 notice the x-pipe is closer to the engine

Run 3 to run 4 was a cam timing change (advanced 8 degrees). i did a cam belt change at the same time and thought maybe the timing shifted a few degrees. while i found good gains the shape of the torque curves shows that this was not the problem. the real problem is the relocation of the x-pipe.

I think when he put in that exhaust, he ended up losing a bunch of power. He's been building a new one as that motor was pretty worn out by the time he corrected the X-pipe placement.

People don't really put much thought into the exhaust but as a system it's pretty important. I mean, it's not just a matter of connecting some pipes to the back of the car..

didn't you sell a burns stainless merge? I'd like to do a dual 2" from headers to tailpipe on an N52 powered car, tuning the X-pipe location would be awesome but that can't be cheap.

Yup, sold it to 3002ti, hopefully he makes good use of it. I bought it in the E46 group buy 3 or so years ago and hadn't got any closer to using it.

I might call up Burns or whoever and have them make me a X pipe put on my stock exhaust. (after headers of course) I can keep the down stream catalytic converters, pick up some power and change the muffler - and it's completely reversible if I need it to be.

I'm planning on getting a 2007 x3 3.0si intake manifold. What disas do I need for that? Will it work for my 2006 325xi? Thanks guys! Hopefully I can get a dyno tune after this and be done with modding the car finally .

the only word I can find to describe them, and that isnt even a great word to describe them is ridiculous. I can sit here and explain how cool they are but it would a disservice to the product, seriously, just get them. It makes the car faster, and so aggressive...especially with the Performance Exhaust.

Im an AWD and my car is quicker in all areas. Its pretty friggen cool.

If anything's possible you might consider having the head worked on, one piece stainless valves for example, flowed, etc. with the valve train balanced for a higher redline. The bottom end will be limiting at some point and will need to be blueprinted and balanced but the top end work even without cams can pick up some ponies, maybe as much as another 20hp, hard to say. Would be a good thing to do ahead of cams anyway. I keep pestering ATI for the Super Damper they're working on and maybe it'll show up eventually so the blueprinting and balancing won't be as critical. Getting the headers coated and wrapped will pick up some horsepower as well. So will a race exhaust but it's expensive. And eventually if you do get to the blueprint and balance process custom pistons for a higher compression ratio will let you burn 100 octane for more power and the bottom end work will allow another increase in redline. Really gotta be on a solid drivelne by then though, imo.
