They pretty much have everything - go to pipe and pipe fittings, choose your material and then start looking. 3 - 2.25 is a weird size - is that inside to inside or inside to outside? can you do 3 to 2 and fit it inside - normal reducers you will find will be 3" - 2" or 3" - 2.5"

Good luck - you might have to get one turned down from bar stock if you need those exact dimensions.

or if your doing exhaust (I was thinking intercooler piping or something) exhaust shop and they can make any size you want with the stretcher if stainless or galvanized pipe will work for you!

Exhaust shops will have galvanized, stainless and maybe aluminized pipe. Unfortunately I have to have aluminum for this setup. I'll check McMaster again. Last time I looked there wasnt anything quite like what I wanted. They had some seriously heavy duty thick walled stuff.

Lol, I gave up, I was not going to pay $50+ for that little piece, I just got a 2.25 OD -> 2.25 ID coupler, still waiting for the filters to do testing. :/

Found this website. These are silicone reducers but have operating temps from -65f - 600f

They have all differnt sizes and you can get them in differnt colors.

Silicone couplers are for going around piping on the OD not inside on the ID which is what he needs. Not rigid enough to be clamped around.

I am very confused.. no one mentioned what this is all about, is it for a custom air filter? is it for the exhaust?, is it for intercooler piping? or is it to swallow cold budweiser fast as a funnel while watching the Superbowl.

If you could be more specific I could direct you rapidly to the right website but I am still guessing what you are trying to do with a "coupler".

Anyway, let me help you out, go to www.extremepsi.com and look under their DIY section, they have all kinds of couplers. Why does it have to be aluminium? can it be just regular steel? Yes, its a custom air intake, Im still in the "Is it worth my time" phase.

I looked at burns, jegs, mcmaster, extremepsi and more. It has to be aluminum so I can weld it to another piece of aluminum. Silicone wont work, neither will stainless and so on and so forth. I guess I could turn down a solid piece of alumium on the CNC lathe and really get some nice flow!

To me, it looks like the companies making CAI's are just welding a pipe, in a pipe, in a pipe to get the step down. I really dont want to do that.

O-cha, shoot me a PM or email and let me know what your working on. Are you just recording IAT's on a warm air intake? Also, wouldnt 2.25 be a rather small filter inlet?

BTW, AGAIN!!! I have to agree with O-cha (this world is a strange place, isn't it?) - I see no reason for cones with 3" opening for this intake. Get the 2.25" ones and U can forget about the couplers.

I'm about to do the same thing, but I'm just using 2.25" inlet filters. It sounds like you're doing something more than just a set of cones though.

I just got the idea after installing my seibon vented hood............man a couple of cones would be sweet under that vent!!! I'm also using some outterwears on the filters to try and keep some of the rain out of them.

Yeah, what I am working on is quite a bit more difficult and definately better for sucking in cold air.

The couplers just dont exist apparently. I guess I can just machine a solid chunk of aluminum into a nice fluid taper shape. Same goes for the juntion of the two pipes into the 1 big pipe running to the filter.

Side question - What temp can I expect to see in the engine compartment near the stock airbox? Is it over 260deg F??? If not, I have another idea.

Then it's OK because we don't agree. I only got the 2.25 ones because it was convenient. There are reasons to use a larger to smaller coupler, increases in air velocity are good.

Lastly, any idea what kind of temps Id see near the stock intake box?
