Single mass fly wheel anyone?
Has anyone done a steel single mass flywheel conversion on a sub-500hp vehicle? How do you like it? Is the vibration noticeable/annoying?

If you need a new flywheel, I will sell you my used stock dual mass for $200 plus shipping......took off my car with 45k miles and its in very good shape (I didn't need a new one but I got one anyway).

Whether the increase in performance is worth whatever side effects it introduces, rattling et al. Last edited by BBL_Anton; 03-25-2015 at 12:24 PM.. |

Am under pressure from my business partner, who thinks he knows everything because he was chief engineer of a F1 race team, to ditch the, as he puts it, "stupid german monkey see monkey do duel mass" for a nimble single Need someone with a testimonial pleeeze.

If you want a single mass flywheel it will lighten up the flywheel, yes. It will also induce chatter and some decent noise.
Worth it, highly unlikely. You also need to consider the fact that although you will lighten up the flywheel there are benefits to a heavy flywheel believe it or not. A heavier flywheel will produce more torque and this car has plenty of it being an inline 6 twin turbo. Torque is exactly what keeps this car moving so well. Light weight flywheel options are typically for high revving vehicles with low torque where the weight is more of a factor. (IE Honda) I think you will find going to a single mass flywheel for no reason will have a negligible difference in power and ultimately just annoy you for daily driving. |
