Tyre leader - price difference
Hi All
Need to buy 2 new fronts, however Tyre Leader have 2 different prices for the same tyre. http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyre...r19-88y-189211 - £91 http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyre...r19-88y-179886 - £83 Everything looks identical, so is this because one has been manufactured at an earlier date? If this is the case i'd rather go for the more expensive option. Advice much appreciated. |

As tyres age they go off, perish and become brittle.
Legally a tyre can't be sold after a certain number of years, and also it's a good idea to change them regardless of wear at a certain age too. I want to say 5 and 7 but I'm not 100%. I'd pay more for fresh tyres. Generally older tyres have had more time to deform, be stored poorly etc. |

On most if they are an older run they put DOT 2011 DOT 2012 etc. neither have this so seems strange

i went to a company called tyre trader who agreed to price match tyreleader and they told me the tyres theyll supply me were brand new and latest edition 2014/15 |

I've just bought 313's and those exact KU39's from tyre leader for £314. No DOT reference anywhere so I assume they will be new.
Bit annoyed that it said 48-72 hour delivery yet 3 days later the tracking number shows they are still in NL. Wheels came next day but I have no tyres ![]() |

I found a guy on eBay that would price match to within £10 of the overall price from tyre leader (eagle f1s were 380 in TL and 390 from this guy)

My local tyre guy is very cheap, cheaper then camskill etc and sources from Germany.
I recently ordered from tyreleader. Ordered Sunday and they were delivered Wednesday. Dot code was week 3 2015 on some Uniroyal Rainsport 3's. |

I had to shop around a bit for fitting. most places wanted £15-17.50 per tyre (based on taking old tyre off and putting new one I supply on). I tried it on with all of them - new wheels not on the car so literally just need 4 tyres putting on rims. Only one place would play ball at £2.50 per tyre fitted or £8.50 balanced and fitted. I reckon I've saved at least £200 over the 4 tyres

I think these places have cottoned onto cheap tyres online, and as a result charge stupid money to fit tyres you supply.
When i first started buying tyres online about 10 years ago, it used to be "Give the tyre boy a fiver and he'll fit them for you" Whereas nowadays places round here are all 15-20quid to fit a tyre. Just bought two eagle F1's for the rear of my 330d and i could get them online for £115 each, and the local place wanted £140. In the end though, i just paid the local guy because it got it sorted there and then (well within a couple hours), rather than having to order online, wait for them to arrive and pay him £15 to fit the tyres just to save myself £10 each. If i was doing all four, i'd probably have shopped around a bit harder to find somewhere that would fit them cheaper, and ordered them all online. |

Fitting prices can be very different , it depends where you live and where you go . I pay from £ 5 fitted balanced per tyre to even £15. One garage based price on size of the wheels
