### Update: Misfiring Rough Engine
Hello...would appreciate some help on this one.
(1). Cylinder 1 misfire and throwing a code of 29CD and yellow SES. I did the coil swap and put in a new plug(Bosch Platinum, quad elements), still no joy. I'm thinking faulty injector or wiring to the coil. I'm going to try some Chevron Techron first to see if that will clean the injector. Also, anyone know of how to check the wiring to the coil and the voltage? Do the wires from the Coils go to a Pack or straight to the Computer? Thanks in advance. (2). Swapped original plugs on C1 and C2. Took out the new plug from C1. Dropped in a bottle of Techron. Tried starting. The engine turned over then stalled. On the first stall the cooling fan turned on and went a million rpm! The engine was cool so don't know why the fan would kick in. I then turned ignition off. Tried starting again and rev'd the engine to 1000-1500 rpm and did not stall. However, the engine is still running rough as before. I cleared the code (misfire on 1) and after idling for several minutes the yellow SES light did not come back on. Lots of gas and some black soot on the floor near the tailpipe. Any suggestions? Update:
Now throwing codes, misfire 1, misfire 2 and yellow SES light is on. Given that I swapped plugs and have new coils, is the next logical step to replace the injectors? Last edited by E90BMWDriver; 03-27-2015 at 07:51 AM.. |

I ran the car the whole weekend, no issues. 2 coils and a fresh set of plugs did the trick for me. Are you sure the plug gaps are correct?

Hello Alex...Yes I did the plug swaps myself. I put in new four element Bosch Titanium plugs in C1 and C2 and that didn't help. I can assume the gaps were correct out of the box. I then cleaned the old plugs and put those back in to see what would happen and I still had misfires. Also, after reading other posts, some were saying they had good results putting in Techron. So I put a bottle in my tank and it seemed to make the matter worse. I'm just wondering if the next logical step is the injector? Don't know if that's the best route to take, diagnosis wise.

You need a proper diagnostic my friend.. If you replaced new coils and plugs on cylinder 1 & 2, then next on the list (as per one of the sticky threads) is the injector leak.. But I read somewhere that if the coils are not pushed properly can cause a misfire.. Ur car needs some pro help 😢

### Update Bad News:
Took it to the Dealer garage. They say I have a stuck valve open in C1 causing misfires and there is no compression in C1 of course. They have to pull the valve cover off and see if they can find the reason why the valve is open. Any suggestions or has anyone had similar issues? This is a 2006 E90, N52 with 50K miles/90k Km |

Wouldn't there be some kind of indication from the diagnostic that there is an issue with the intake manifold if you are correct?
