335i Faulty Turbo Actuators & pic of car !!

Left my car into the dealer today as there was a ticking noise coming from the turbo area. Turns out the wastegate actuators are faulty and they are going to replace them under warranty. Anyone else have this problem? or know what could have made them go faulty?

Heard of it before. I guarantee you there will now be a dozen people to come into this thread with "OMG there is a ticking sound from my turbos too, I should go to the dealer!" now though.

How many miles on your car, any signs besides the ticking?

Did you take out the Procede when you went into the dealer? Also, if you didn't take it out, will you take it out when you get the actuators fixed?

Not smart bro. You went in for something concerning the turbos, so it wouldn't be a huge stretch for them to look in there. I wish you all the best....

OMG!!!!

Well if nothing else this should be a good test of the "voiding the warranty" concept.

You've got an LSD and an aftermarket exhaust, major and moderate mods respectively, both suggesting a plan for increased engine output. If I was the dealer, the first thing I would do is look inside the ECU box for signs of tampering. They're not blind to what's going on in the aftermarket, after all...

Even though they told you they were going to replace them under warranty, I would keep my fingers crossed. If they do replace them free, consider yourself lucky. It wouldn't be any stretch to blame an ECU mod for a wastegate actuator failure since one directly affects the other...

Best of luck!!!!

EVO Magazine had a 335i Touring that had the same thing happen to the wastegates. They also state that they've heard of a few others that were faulty too.

Garage List
I've seen an actuator that was misadjusted and leaking boost causing the car to throw low boost pressure faults. This was on a 535i. The car only had 100 miles and I didnt remember any ticking although there might have been.

Are they replacing just the actuators or the whole turbo?

Theres a TSB out about the ticking but last I checked the cause was still under investigation.

I checked mine this morning and the tick seems to be coming from the other side of the engine. Perhaps I'm not hearing what you guys are hearing. I looked at the Turbo waste gate actuators and they were not pulsating and appeared tight. Did you guys loose performance?

faults happen from time to time. No big deal. I think the procede has nothing to do with it. the wastegate just opens and closes, it does not give a damn how much boost U run, it works all the time anyway. I hope they won't find your piggy, otherwise your lazyness will be really expensive.

BTW
