Chernobyl revisited

Amazing documentary, watch it unfold like a real Hollywood drama, with the different personalities involved, Heroes, villains.

Back when the Discovery Channel made great documentaries worth watching.

Thanks! You might also want to check out the Seconds From Disaster show in regards to Chernobyl. This whole incident is fascinating.

I was freaked when I went to Nagasaki about 10 years ago. Except for that third teste and that funny growth on my back, I didn't have any issues

If you go to Nagasaki, and somehow MISS the memorial park, you have done yourself and all of humanity a terrible dis-service. I am still humbled, nearly to tears, at the compassion for all humanity shown by the Japanese people in building this place.

Heartbreaking when you hear the recorded phone call made to the fire stations, you can hear the devastation, sadness in the woman's voice.

And the abundance of water in the memorial, counter to the withering dehydration and lack of water in the aftermath of the explosion.

I was living in Germany when Chernobyl went up. I remember the fear that the fallout would be really bad in western Europe. As it was, the authorities warned against eating any ground plants like mushrooms or strawberries. Even milk was suspect. Very scary times, and that was hundreds of miles away. Those poor folks in the badly contaminated areas lost everything. And the Russians aren't nearly as prone to adequately compensating people for gov't screwups.

I was visiting family in Italy and Greece the summer(Jul-Aug of 1985) was 11yrs old. We skipped visiting family for 6 yrs after the Chernobyl. Especially when my family here in the US was getting phone calls about this person not feeling well, and that person coming down with Cancer....etc.
But, you gotta feel sorry for all those Russians/Ukrainians people that suffered/and still suffering today, along with all the children.
All because some F*ck wanted to play games with the reactor..... and not follow procedures

Funny I still remember that feeling gotten from the news, and I remember the restrictions given to us.

Even today, it is still not allowed to eat wildlife or mushrooms from the Bayerische Wald(Bavarian Forrest, East of Regensburg) because of the radioactive fall out from Chernobyl. I seem to remember some docu tv show saying the week or the accident the winds blew Easterly and Germany had lots of rain. Most of the Bayerische Wald and Czech were left to deal with the fall out mess.

Do you remember how scary it was? I was three, and its one of my earliest memories watching our red tv and a very 80's serious man was explaining that berries should not be eaten.

And he blamed the reactor poor's design for the tragedy, never took responsibility.

His boss Nikolai Fomin lost his mind, literally.
