just put my 313s on, have a wobble

Just took the winters off to put the 19" 313s on and first off let me say this is the first time I've changed wheels on a bmw and what a pain in the ass, considering other cars I've done(at least 30).

I have this wobble, the steering wheel will literally move itself, don't know how else to explain it, it's not a shake, don't know if that makes sense. Anyways, I tightened these nuts(screws?) About 5 times (test drive, get out, tighten all of them again, in which case they were *fairly* loose again) and they seem to never want to stop tightening.

I've got it *I think* as tight as they'll go, and the wobble is less noticeable, but it's still there. They're not bent, they are rft, maybe they need to be re-balanced? It wasn't like this earlier with my winters on....help!

Does everyone actually torque them to spec? I'll be honest, I never have with any other car and never had an issue....what are the torque specs? Edit: NVM, it's 88 #s I'll check that and try it out.

Verify the lug seat and lug bolt match. Yes, torque them. Also, check the mating surfaces. They should be free of rust and grime. They may need a balance.

I'm pretty sure the lugs used on the winters are the ones used on the summers, however, I just got this car and the guy didn't even give me a key for the wheels, I had to get a new one, so it's possible that there could have been another set of lugs, but he didn't say anything.

Turns out that the bolt holes are oblong(says the tire shop), wtf did the previous owner do to these things and is that fixable?

I've swapped wheels on mine several times and always torque to spec. They are tight, but you can easily keep turning after the torque is reached which could cause the holes to elongate. Regardless though, the wheels should be hub centric (if OEM 313s) so I'd check the hub mounting surfaces to ensure there's no buildup preventing it from seating properly. Not sure I understand what your feeling but you may be noticing the tires tracking with the road surface
if you're going from smaller winters to 19" with run flats. Might also try a few different roads to see if it changes. I swear my alignment is off if I'm on a road with any side grade to it until I get on something really flat and smooth.

Maybe I might take them in to a different tire shop and have them look at them.

Took them to my buddy at a proper shop, balanced then, torqued, test, torqued and they're fine. Fuck large chain tire shops don't know shit about anything.
