My e92 330i M Sport
Hi everyone, thought I would put up a post to say hello after buying an e92 330i M Sport a couple of days ago.
My car history consists of owning a few cars at a time, mostly jap turbo stuff whilst running something sensible. I have recently moved and can only have one car now, so opted for this. I considered the golf r32, civic type r, golf gti edition 30 and I just couldn't click with any of them. My previous daily car was a nice e46 325ci convertible, but after 150k miles it was showing it's age and needed money spending. The e92 feels leagues ahead of the e46 and i am super chuffed! Looking froward to getting lots of useful tips off the forum and contributing wherever I can |

Enjoy, I'm still finding features on mine! (Only had it a month or so) Already ordered a small spoiler for the boot and used far too much fuel!
Q to everyone else - As an aside, is it possible to fit the aero lip to a M-Sport bumper? I think I prefer the look, I know the aftermarket ones are SE addons, but will the OE lip fit the M-Sport bumper? |

Welcome Dave, great colour you've got there. Enjoy it!
Stoatmaster - No, the OE aero lip will not fit an M Sport bumper. There are however a number of aftemarket lips that you can buy for the M Sport bumper. |

thanks
I'm really loving it, plenty powerful and it drives soooo nice compared to the e46 i had previously. I know what you mean about discovering features... I didn't realise it stops the car rolling back when pulling away on a hill. Love that! |

Have to agree on the Civic Type R FN2, it was an itch I need to scratch and lasted all of 7 months. Even with flat roads your spine feels every last bit of what your driving over.
OP - lovely looking car |

have to agree about the FN2, the represent great value for money, will no doubt be reliable, a bit of a hoot to drive and they're pretty good looking, but there is a reason they're so cheap. Just not for me
It was a toss up between this and a mk5 r32 golf. I really like the golf, but just didn't click with it. |

Stunning looking car, love the colour! If I'm not mistaken, it doesn't have the shark fin aerial? I love that as it makes the back look so smooth and clean

no shark fin is that for the idrive or phone kit? mine has neither and i didnt want either.
I didnt want idrive as the interface is dated, yet it was a good bargaining tool as a buyer. I'll eventually fit a dynavin n6 i think though. Been using apple carplay systems in previous cars, so could go that route too. Other than the stereo this will be the first car that i wont do any mods to. it will just get serviced and maintained. i love it just the way it came out the factory. |

AdamC - Thanks, I suspected as much. Any suggestions? Tied between either some sort of clip on lip, or a splitter that is not too garish. Just want to lower the front the car slightly visually. |

So... a week in and I'm still loving it!
There's a few things I need to look into though: My set belt butlers don't always push the belt out, so I might pull the fuse for these. I find them a little bit irritating anyway and don't mind reaching back for the belt. I have noticed that it used a little oil. Is this normal? According the dash it's use a 1/4 lire in about 500 miles. Mine is a N52 330i. The tyres needed pumping up a week after doing them. I may have initially used a dodgy air compressor as they were all equally a few psi down. I've pumped them up again and will check them again in a week with the same compressor I used. I live in central london and the pot holes and speed bumps make for an interesting ride. I take it pretty steady but it can be a little hectic. I am running RFT's though so may get rid of them. Has anyone gone for wider tyres on these wheel, as the 255/225 looks a bit stretched? All things considered it's amazing. Just want to go on some road trips now!! |

On the tyre front as said ditch the run flats. On the pressures hope and pray you don't have any cracked rims. Best to get the rims off one at a time and check the outer edge on the back of them for cracks. Nice car but then I would say that.

So... little update after a couple of months of ownership.
I have totally fallen for this car, it's the best all round driving machine I have ever owned. Saying that, I have mainly had 90s turbo scrappers and the odd e46. I love the understated looks and feel happy parking it anywhere in town which I need to do often. Luckily my wheels aren't cracked (yet) and hold pressure. However I have managed to duff a couple of the wheels whilst parking. I might look into a refirb soon, but it's not to bad, so I'll leave that for now. The ride is silky smooth. However, every now and then I will hit a drain cover or some other minor bump in the road and it resonates really bad through the car. I think that could be down to the run flats, so when I knacker these tyres out I'll go non RFT and also go one step wider to help protect the rims a little more. I removed fuse 25 for the seat belt butler, that just bugged me and it also seems to use a little oil. I've done 2-3000 miles and it's used a couple of litres now. What could be causing the oil use? I've searched and cannot find any other complaints about the N53B30 doing this. I'm not too bothered though as I've owned lots of oil burners before, specially the 6 pot BMW's that I've had. I also contacted the garage which serviced it since new and they confirmed it has had all new injectors, fuel pump and coil packs less than 18 months ago, so that is quite reassuring. Otherwise... all good! I have always wanted to mod my previous cars and this is the first one I think is best left alone. |

You can disable the seat-belt handover via programming mate. BMWhat and the adaptor is all you need.
I cant' recall what BMW's acceptable consumption figures are, but I vaguely recall the upper limit seems almost laughable, so it might not be anything to worry about. I do know most BMW engines oil consumption seem to vary wildly. The e46 330 (M52 lump) seemed to have a lot of people asking the same question, but my one never used a drop. Nice motor
I have the Dynavin N6 unit and really pleased with it, my brother has DA120 carplay and the N6 is definitely much better than the CarPlay. Bought it from Auto Electronics. |
