07 e90 335i with high speed fans on all the time
noticed the other day that i could hear the fan running on high when i first started the car after sitting all night. a/c was not on . i checked my jb4 and tried to shut the jb4 off, fans just kept running. so thats not the problem. checked the coolant reservior and it was full. my car only has 54000 miles on it. is there a high speed fan relay or thermosensor that sticks on these cars ? it is an 07 . other than this it runs fine, thanks

fans running full blast at the high school could indicate hot students

jb4 max cool mode was ruled out when i shut the jb4 off. thanks though. would the fan come on full speed if the engine had not been started for over 12 hours if it was a water pump ?

Try scanning for codes with the JB4. I'm not sure if it will show codes that aren't causing CEL's. If you have INPA then use it and it will show you all codes. You can also try the coolant auto-bleed procedure. If it doesn't run then there is a good chance the pump is shot. You should hear/see coolant flowing into the reservoir. Check this thread for steps on the auto bleed procedure, they are at the end. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=248187 I went through this in October. My code was 2E82 and fan was on high all the time w/o any other signs of a problem. But here's what my failed pump sounded like when I tried to do the auto-bleed:

Might want to clear codes. It can also run if the AC is on.

That shouldn't cause the fans to come on. I get that code too sometimes, pretty common with JB4.

funny part is I never had the fan go on like this, I just had a lot of coolant leaking from the side of the water pump, it was like when the car reached operating temp it started gushing out. found out it was a hairline crack by one of the bolts

Well, my fan is running all the time, had a yellow coolant light warning on the dash today, added a bit of coolant and the light went away but due to the fans all the time I'm thinking the pump is going. I'm gonna do the work myself, my question here is wheres the best place to buy?
http://www.ecstuning.com/News/BMW_E9...PumpThermostat ECS tuning has a few packages... I would like to go with ECS's package thats $487 vs the OEM kit which is $564... anyone have any experience with it? Or should I just bite the bullet and fork over the extra $80? Any other sources for better pricing on OEM parts? |

It's definitely worth it to stick with OEM. http://www.getbmwparts.com/parts/200...agramCallOut=1 This site is good to have if you don't already use it. Late reply... Did you resolve? |
