Well, since the option to actually obtaining an old fashioned muscle car is getting a bit harder and harder.. I have been TOYING with the idea of picking up a 2005 Mustang GT and having some fun with it.
I've always liked loud brute force and figure hell.. it just may be fun. The opportunity to pick up a 2005 GT with less then 20,000 miles on it for a great price has come up, and I may need one of you to talk me out of it. OR just go for it. I'd be looking at a saleen dress up as well as engine work and forced induction, but before that as much SUSPENSION work as the car could handle. Am I wasting my time? ![]() |

I like the looks a lot. The build quality is what I would be scared about.

As much as my friend loved his 'stang, he said he'll never ever buy one again. I looked at them up close at the car show yesterday. Sounds silly, but the shifter feels terrible, and just the looks of the parking brake in use annoys the hell out of me. It sits so high, the design is crap. But you gotta love the sound of a mustang though. |

If I was going buy a pure muscle car (brand new, I mean) I'd get a Dodge Charger SRT8. Fast as hell in a straight line, just don't try and turn.
A muscle car, by the strictest definition, is an intermediate sized, performance oriented model, powered by a large V8 engine, at an affordable price.(source...which I happen to agree with) |

Take a look at the interior of that Stang, then ask yourself if you are buying a muscle car, or if your looking at one of the worst interiors EVER!

If you want it for the look the mustang gt is really good looking when done well. However, if you're in it for the pure power, the last gen is where the power for dollar is.

It's not hard to find a muscle car, even nowadays. Just look for one that isn't completely destroyed and make it a project car. Make it a real muscle car. My friend just bought a '65 Stang, changed everything: engine, tranny, suspension, wheels, steering wheel, radio. Now that's a real muscle car. The V8 cost him about 5k from Ford's performance division. The car makes about 450-500 at the wheels. He's gonna install a supercharger and make around 550-600 at the wheels too!
Best part, it only cost him about 15k total!!! ![]() The new stangs are too common. Ancient tech in a modern-ish package. Not worth it imo.

There is only one reason you should ever need to stay as far as possible from a Mustang.
Solid. Rear. Axle. End of story.

Brutal interior.....a toyota corolla will handle better in the corners...and thats not a stretch!...i dont even want to begin to talk about the workmanship, technology, ergonomics or quality...as already mentioned....sell off your e90.....and go buy a 335i and you'll be eating mustangs for lunch on daily basis!

went for a test drive yesterday.. and of course the car was fun, but after being on the German side of things for quite some time now. I just couldn't handle that interior what so ever.
I think I'm going back to the Motorsport side, and find myself a nice low mileage 04/05 M3 ![]() |
