Hmm, I think you're the first person to ever do this, you should just search though just to make sure.

Geeze guys, cut the newbie some slack, we were all newbies once; me only one year ago! And with the help of all of you, and the search function, I'm like $8,000 poorer!

Damn, I knew I should have bought a M3!

Lol....hindsight is 20/20.
Yup....I would have gone m3 too but it would attack the wallet with full bmw tax fury
As for for OP's question yes you can do a full dual set-up just do some :
It requires some modifications but is relatively easy stuff.
I personally don't think it's worth doing on a 328....but whatever floats your boat.

The easiest way for N52 dual/quad exhaust is to get a universal muffler or muffler delete and run a pipe to the other side between the black storage bin and bumper cover. Any muffler shop that knows what they're doing should be able to do this.

If you want to do a real dual muffler type system like a 335i, you will need a lot of modification. Basically, relocating the EVAP canister and retrofitting the 335i trunk tray and heat shielding.

Been done by numerous people. Take it to a shop and tell them what you want. I did all my own (with a welder buddy):

I know this is an old thread… But I wanted to start dialogue, with anyone knowledgeable really.

I’ve got a full OEM exhaust with (bypass actuators) from an M4, so I thought about doing this on my 330. I’ve read about some of the changes necessary and it doesn’t seem that far out of reach. I need a new rear bumper anyways, plus my Dad is a great welder. So aside from needing to modify the trunk storage and the relocating the evap canister, it's just pipe and welding?

Why would they lose torque? If you do it right, not at all.

Sorry to clog up the forum with such a boring topic... But the car is a decade old; so repeat discussions are sort of expected.

Here's what I have to work with if anyone has anything helpful to say.

Because it's from an ///M car and ///M parts are always better.

1. Didn't want to throw it away seeing how it's practically new. Thought it may be less restrictive especially with the bypass valves working. 3. Who doesn't like a dual exhaust.? 4. I am for budget friendly performance enhancing mods. The ///M factor is more of a side note.

So if someone has already done this and knows it detracts from the car, I'm all ears.

Trying to adapt that exhaust to your car doesn't strike me as being budget minded. Keep us posted...

Your right ,if it's done right,it can be done. Trying to put an exhaust from a turbo car on a non turbo car will result in loss of back pressure resulting in loss of torque because of he bigger piping. You can use bigger piping if the engine has upgrades. Unlike a v8, this is a inline 6,there isn't an exhaust system in the world that going to have that sweet sounding sound ,to each of there own, this has been tested over and over. Keep us posted on your desision

Loss of back pressure is incorrect, I think you mean loss of velocity due to increased flow area. That may be correct, I've yet to measure the pipe diameters and do any math.

I'm not set on using the exhaust, it was just an idea when I read that it's been done.
