Best 0-60 time for 335i so far?
Have a buddy that was/is considering a new M3 (he said today that he heard they have been delayed until 2009 but I havent seen that anywhere). He currently has a 330i w/performance package and was wondering of the fastest times. I told him that I thought my 535i with V2 would crush him and that made me wonder how fast is "the fastest."

To which only Terry can reproduce of course. A stock 335i runs 0-60mph in 4.8 - 5.0 sec., and most tuned 335i's are running 0-60mph in ~ 4.2x - 4.5x sec.; although that's not < 4.0 sec., it certainly is still pretty decent, imho.

let alone modding it with wider and stickier tires... the sport package's rim should be 265 imo.

I replicated 4.3 - 4.4 w/ stock RFT and only V1.47 many many many times. now I have several more mods and wider stickier tires, however I have not felt the need to abuse my clutch any more to find out what the car is capable of. Its fast........that I know.

That was with the most accurate measuring device you can get ...the VBox At sea level and with a bit less gas that should be a 4.2 Now with v2 it might be 4.1 But I agree with the others, a tuned 335i should be in the 4.0-4.3 range depending on conditions. High 3's are very possible with DR's and race gas and other mods (DP's, exhaust, etc) too. |

This just in, if somebody is putting drag radials on their BMW, they are probably into drag racing. Also, all that drag racing that "matters nothing to you" is the main reason certain tuning options on this board have become so popular. Dyno numbers are always taken with a grain of salt. 1/4 mile ET and trap carry much more weight and show what the car is actually capable of in the real world.
Finally, no reason to run higher than pump gas octane on a turbocharged car? Please never leave the BMW boards, otherwise you'll be laughed off the net.

Terry did 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. Keep in mind 0-60 is very traction dependent so at the track you will always get better times....
This the thread that contains the time, and also has a comparision of actual track times vs vbox times... http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=282

Its a shame what the 335 has brought, back prior to the TT engine, the forums were more about handling and the track than the drag strip. Putting a BMW on a drag strip is like putting a porsche on one.

or how about this Turbo ripping the front wheels off the ground at our last MIR rental from November. This car is heavily modded for track duty, not for the strip. Owner admits to being a horrible 1/4 mile driver but SHOCKED himself when he saw this pic of his car...............

Just because you don't like a certain form of racing; doesn't mean it's worthless. Write that down! I hate Nascar...you never catch me saying it's worthless etc...not what the Taurus was meant for . FYI there are plenty of Porsche owners that hit the dragstrip now...plenty! The easiest way to avoid confrontation on Drag racing threads is to not post within them. Pretty simple.

Someone in my GF's building's parking garage has a black e92 M3 so i highly doubt they are delayed until 2009. One caveat, the guy had "new dealer plates" so i'm assuming he works at a bimmer dealership. Maybe he talked his way into an early delivery BTW, the new M3 look amazing in person, i was in the parking garage for a good 30mins going around the car checking out every inch. |
