E92 joins the family
After having bought my Sapphire Black E90 325d M-Sport a couple of months ago, my missus has just bought a replacement for her Cayman S...........a Sapphire Black E92 330d M-Sport
The Cayman is great but wasted on her lol. What was quite interesting though; - I have now driven four "x35d" engined cars, and I was a tad underwhelmed by them all - I suspect its my expectations of how a diesel should perform vs the petrol-like nature of the engine? The 330d seemed more responsive mid-range. More diesel-like. - I bought my 325d as I thought it was pretty quick.........but having now tried a 330d, there is a noticeable performance difference. The 330d is pretty rapid!! - Has anyone driven a remapped 325d and a standard 330d - and if so does the remap make it feel at least as quick as the 330d? Will post pics when it arrives next weekend |

No problem with my 335d in terms of perfomance. I have driven some fast cars and don't feel dissapointed day to day.

Mob,
Nice purchase with the e92. With regards remaps and the difference between 325D - 330D,it appears a remapped 325 does indeed match (approx) that of a 330D. 1.8d EDC16 120 280 155 350 2.0d EDC16 163 340 200 400 2.5d EDC16+ 194 standard 400 230 remapped 465 3.0d EDC16 231 Standard 500 271 600 3.5d EDC16 286 580 350 700 http://www.e-maps.co.uk/products/BMW...ies+%28e90%29/

Hi MOB, im amazed you find the 535D/335D lacking in performance
you should have been at the pod that day i whooped some serious ''performance mota'' ARSE... Why have you let the miswah have a bigger engined car than you? swap with her.

No plans at the moment but that may change when I see you boys and mine is the low power car is the equivalent of a push bike next to yours.
I would shop around to make sure I get the right map for me and check out a few companies although with model yr 09 there might be a bit more go in the stock item if Audi or Merc can get their Arse in gear and catch up.

Re: the 330d vs 335d performance, the 335 is obviously the faster car looking at the stats, its just that I felt that the 330d felt like it had more of a "short but intense" burst of torque, whereas the 335d was more linear and revvy. A remapped 330d should be interesting.......... |

MOB,
Check out this thread. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...highlight=325d You can get 271bhp from your 325d with the help of Hartge or ESS. Ulrik |

I read that thread with interest......I have had quotes from a couple of tuning companies that reckon on about 240bhp from a remap - when I questioned them on the 325d/330d differences, they said the injectors, turbos etc were different.
So many opinions on this, not sure what to do!! |

Mob,
Interesting observation! I'm with you on this. I used to have a 535d M Sport and also an E90 330d M Sport. The 330d was manual. I much preferred the 330d and the performance "gap" was small in my opinion. I wouldn't have a 335d over a 330d for a number of reasons, mainly the gearbox, and I do believe that having owned and driven them, the 330d is the more accomplished package. With a remap, the E9* 330d would be cracking fun. I can almost hear myself talking me into another one! Matt |
