Red Car on Lift icon
Hi everyone. So my instrument cluster is showing the red car on lift icon with a -200 miles underneath. The brake light is NOT lighting up. Car is a 2011 335xi an is now at about 62,000. Read my manual and says for the red lift icon:
Starter failed or Ignition malfunctioning or Lighting system failed. I haven't had any issues and none of my lights or lamps are out. Am I missing something? Car is out of warranty and try to avoid going to dealer anytime I can now. I will bring it to my local BMW independent mechanic I just want to get some idea of what this might be first. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks for the replies in advance . |

Well this is the first time this ever came up...

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."
