How did you find out it was booked? I've been at the port for close to a week and would like to know if I can check if I'll be on the ship leaving on the 5th. I really don't want to miss it and have to wait until the 14th!

I should be on that ship.
I haven't confirmed with the dealer, but my 335i Coupe was completed on the 27 th of Jan, so it should be on this ship since it has been released to the shipper. Hopefully there is no more delays, 4 more weeks, then probably another week till it hits the dealer, wow, this is long.

Sal501 -- did your car change to In Transit today?
My car has been at the port awaiting a shipping vessel since Thursday. I checked today and it changed to "Vehicle is in transit -- please contact your center". I wonder what boat that would put me on... My car is headed to San Diego. Edit -- I reran a search and found the ASIAN EMPEROR on WWL left 2/1, I ran a VIN search and found my car's on there! Does anyone know that once a vessel reaches Port Hueneme, which VPC in California it gets shipped to? How much delay should I anticipate to get my car shipped to San Diego?
Thanks |

sal501-
Here is the Sirius Leader tonight. You will see her in the top right of this map. It looks like she's headed to Bremerhaven to pick up cars. I will keep an eye on her. I tracked this exact ship two years ago when I did a euro delivery for my Mercedes Benz. The MBs and BMWs travel together from Bremerhaven to SoCA on these car carrier ships. This ship holds about 5000 cars. I have tracked several ships in the past for other people, too. I am getting ready to track another one of my MBs, but not until April. |

These ships typically go to the port of LA/Long Beach first (the MB VPC is in Long Beach), then the same day or a day later go to Port Hueneme, then a day later to the port of San Diego. I don't know where they prep the San Diego-bound BMWs. Maybe they offload at PH to go through the VPC there and then are trucked to SD??

Well, this is strange. Her heading has changed from east to west. Maybe she's already been to Bremerhaven and is on her way through the English Channel out to the open ocean. I will keep an eye on her. I have never seen a ship flip around like that on AIS. It must be some type of artifact in the radar signal.

As of tonight, Sirius Leader is scheduled to arrive at Port Hueneme on Feb 29
http://www.portofhueneme.org/documen...0208083457.pdf and at the Port of San Diego on Feb 27 http://www.sdmis.org/schedule/ These dates could (probably will) change by a day or so. |

The Sirius Leader is on the Port Hueneme calendar for arrival on Feb 29. This could change by a day, or so, as that date gets closer. Right now, she should be out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean heading towards the Panama Canal. Once she exits the PanCanal on the Pacific side, it takes one week to get to Port Hueneme. So, if she is due in PH on Feb 29, count back seven days and that will give you the date she should exit the PanCanal, which should be around Feb 22. It takes about two days to get in line and get through the canal, once she reaches the Atlantic side of the canal, so she should reach the Atlantic side of the canal about Feb 20, give or take a day. If I can catch her on the AIS radar coming into the Canal region on the Atlantic side around the 20th, I can alert you and you can watch the Sirius Leader go through the PanCanal locks on the web cameras. There are three web cameras. It is fun to watch. Until then, there isn't a lot you can do to track her, at least for us amateur trackers. She needs to be within 50 miles of shore in order to track on her on the AIS radar, so until she reaches the PanCanal, there is nothing we can really do to track her. (There is one other web site, but it isn't reliable; ships don't report often. It is sailwx.info) |
