Warranty Void Question

Hello All,

So, I have an aFe SI and I am taking my car in for general 40K servicing tomorrow under BMW warranty. That's the only aftermarket part in the car at this time. Will this void my warranty? Checked out aFe's page and found this.

"Will putting an aFe filter or air intake system in my vehicle void my factory warranty?

Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)). For best results, consider working with performance-oriented dealerships with a proven history of working with customers. If your vehicle manufacturer fails to honor emission/warranty claims, contact EPA at (202) 260-2080 or www.epa.gov. If federal warranty protection is denied, contact the FTC at (202) 326-3128 or www.ftc.gov. Also check out this link from SEMA for additional information on your rights; http://www.sema.org/main/semaorghome.aspx?ID=50096 For additional information on the Magnuson-Moss Act, go to http://www.impalaclub.com/naisso/magmoss.htm or http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/business/adv/bus01.shtm."

Thoughts?

Thanks,

usually intake wont affect the warranty, but check local forum see if any SA is better with modded car.

a whole warranty cannot be voided. Say if something in the intake system went because of your intake, then that can be part voided.

Just following up. Took the car in this morning and the Service Adviser actually complemented me on the aFe SI intake and said he had yet to see one and that it looked great and was impressed with the design and potential for increase in air flow.

Thanks again everyone!
