Anyone had a windscreen replaced?

Hey guys, so my cars hit 67k now and I'm not overly happy with my windscreen due to all the blemishes as the front is rather pebble dashed (not down to myself) the windscreen is also abit pitted.. Anyway have you had it changed and to what cost & where from? Ceers guys

Tbh I've only had screens replaced when they've cracked of stone chipped too badly to be repaired, so the cost has only been my windscreen excess. If you are just going to get it replaced at your own cost then you are looking at a good few hundred.

Seen talk on here of it being a pita in some cases. Getting the sensors and stuff right for the auto wipers etc.

I'm having mine done fairly soon.
Got 4 big stone chips and one looks like it's about to crack.
Autoglass said if it's anymore that 3 chips they replace the screen.

My problem is I have the optional climate comfort windscreen and I don't know how much hassle I'm going to get because of it.

my hammer slip out of my hand and cracked the screen. Pay £70 for autoglass to replace it with via the insurance because of the massive stone chip .

I'm in the same boat. The climate comfort screen is very expensive: BMW quoted approx. £1000 all in. It's going to be an insurance job. And I don't trust Autoglass et al to fit the correct screen.

You can demand a genuine OEM one is fitted, its just most places will try to fit a cheaper one unless asked

I'll try that then. I'm waiting on a call from my local fitting center anyway to confirm when they can do it.

But annoyed as I don't really want a new screen. My e36 had one and they ended up causing about 1-1.5k worth of damage

insurers won't give you a Bmw windscreen. i tried it and it clearly states on my policy that if my car is over 3 years old they would not give me a OEM windscreen and they would pay an allowance towards it if u foot the bill.

I've just cracked mine too, I asked the insurers for on OEM replacement and they put a request through to the windscreen department for it to be declined unless I pay and extra £250. Just going for the one autoglass give me for the £75 excess now.

Had mine done by autoglass at the weekend great job the guy who installed it had been doing screens for over 22years, only thing I'm not happy with is where the hawl mark is now on the glass but can't be helped I wasn't paying BMW £400+ for a new one

Cheers for all the replies, yet to get hold of a windscreen company as I'm untrusting I guess & don't trust them to either not fit it right or for you to be able to hear wind noise.

Shall have to see how I get on

Had mine done today, but found that the wipers don't sweep as far as they used to, they used to go right flush to the windscreen frame now they seem to stop about 7cm short.

Anyone know why?

They've not put you're wiper arms back on correctly.Easy fix if you have a 16mm spanner or socket.

So it's been 2 weeks since paying the excess on my new windscreen and not hearing from Autoglass.

Turns out the climate comfort windscreen is on an unknown lead time >6wks from BMW and will be costing in excess of £1k.

In the eman time, one of the chips on my screen has begun to crack. Joy

I wasn't sure if they took the wiper arms of to change the screen, I didn't watch the cretin do it.

Been pissin down today and it's well bugging me now, they can flaming well come back and fix it. I have both a 16mm spanner and socket but d don't feel inclined to fix someone else's cock up

Thought I'd give this a bump as my new windscreen is being fitted now.

Should be done in about an hour or so
