Please Help - ABS light, Air Bag Light, Wipers wont' stop unless I press the brake.
Right now when I start my car(E92 335i) the passenger air bag light comes on along with the seat belt light. Moments later my ABS, Traction control, and brake light come one. Then I get a light with an arrow pointing at a speedometer.
Here's a video of that happens Link (I don't know why the video looks like that) It starts with my foot on the brake with the seat belt and air bag light on. When I remove my foot from the brake the other lights come on and the wipers start. My first thought was that my JB4 was going haywire so I removed it, and everything worked fine. After going inside, taking a shower, etc. I came back out and it was doing it again. |

My guess is electrical problems causing sensors to malfunction. Similar to what happens when your battery is low and you get all sorts of warnings.
When my battery went low, if i tried to start the car i'll get: transmission faulty warning, TPM warning, Service engine soon warning. After i replaced the batteries, everything was OK. So im gonna guess some sort of electrical fault is causing your sensors to act up. Take it to any mechanic or BMW dealer. It shouldn't be a big issue.

UPDATE:
About a week after my first post I was told to unhook the battery for an hour, it fixed the problem and everything in the world was great....then the problem started again. The car now has the brake light and traction control light on constantly(both yellow). The windshield wipers and ABS light only come on after the car has been driven and sits for a short amount of time before being restarted. For instance, if it sits over night or the whole day at work I can drive to and from work and it won't go crazy. I've checked the battery with a meter with the car off and on, the readings were normal 12.5/14.6. I should note that when I hit a deer about a year and a half ago they replaced the Steering angle sensor, I took it apart tonight and did not see any debris, or film of any sort to make be believe it's at fault. I replaced the negative battery cable/DMS and it didn't change anything, luckily the dealership returned the part. I put a new battery in tonight and even though it's not registered yet, it didn't change a thing. |

UPDATE:
I finally bit the bullet and had the DSC module replaced. BMW makes a "repair kit" for it, thanks for avoiding a recall on your faulty part BMW. The kit coast ~1,100 . I had a local shop, Eurowise - Charlotte, replace it for $300. Also, the car is for sale. http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...ngId=420644408 |
